Looks great! Good job man. Did they make a change to their design for the front bumper?

Masson74, what paint did you use? Is it a close match to the truck (hard to tell in the photo)?

Ha Ha. Rostoleum silver metallic wheel paint. It looks good from about 15 feet. I am eventually going to powder coat it once I get my tire carrier from Roy. Don't be too impressed.
Installed today.
The instructions aren't that good. The video they have on how to install the swing out shows them bolting the latch and then on the other part they have the carrier on top of the latch. So you have remove the bolts and but the carrier over it. Just frustrating lol. I wish they would label each back with bolts as to where they go. There are bolts with few different sizes in one bag and you can confuse your self. After all you want to install just like the guy who made it. But I love it. It's sick !!!!

Looks like the design changed, removing some weight from the frame mounts. Note the large slot in the mounts below. Can't wait to get mine, but since I just ordered it, I have to wait awhile...it has arrived :bounce:
18 weeks total. worth the wait, now i just have to find time to paint it...
Rear bumper came in today. Saturday going to powder coat guy to drop it of. And will pick up the front one from him. Charged me $200 for front to powder coat. Back should be same.

I had similar thoughts, although I don't have a swingout yet, but would really like a full-width SO because it will be easier for me to live with day-in and day-out. When I picked up my rear bumper from Roy a couple weeks ago, I asked about a full width swingout, and the main reason is that the t4r frame gets a lot of flex when using a full width swingout.
Personally, I don't mind if there is frame flex when using a full-width swingout in the swung-out position, so that is probably in my future. I might look at doing some frame stiffening though.

Savage Rear Swing Out
Personally for me I like the swing out design the way it currently is and one of the reasons I prefer the Savage product. Less bulky and less weight. Leaves the rest of the bumper available as a step or some other add on's down the road such as gas/water can mounts. My .02 FWIW. I received my Savage rear bumper and just had it powder coated. Should have it mounted this week then hope to be ordering the tire carrier soon.

I hear both reasons... and I'm stuck in the middle.
I'm worried about the 'life' of the half size swing out, will it rattle as it ages. Is it strong enough to not 'break down' over time. in the end I need it cause I pull a trailer, and a full size swing won't 'fit' when hooked up, and I have dogs in the back, so it has to open.
on the other hand the full size has that 'extra' rigid feel, and can be re-inforced more than the half size.
Maybe, if I got 2 halves and was able to 'latch' them together in multiple spot's up the center I'd be able to have the strength of the full but the convenience of the half... sounds like a custom job to me...

Nothing is permanent. It will require some maintenance. The swingout joints are HUGE. Dry lube once in a while keeps them in good condition. As far as the red handle. Mine came lose after some time. But nothing like re tighten it properly wont fix it. These red handles seem to be very popular, so im sure its not hard to find a replacement.
Why i like savage rear swingout. Light, reversible to driver or passenger side.
The handle is in a awkward location.
Roy , is an amazing guy. He has great customer service. I ended up bending my rear savage bumper by pulling someone out with a small strap. ( to my knowledge, i think the small strap didnt properly distribute the force.Thus the bumper taking a lot) In theory i dont think it should have happened either way. But roy took back the old bumper. And made me a new one from scratch at no cost. And reinforced the new one. So if you get one with a plate welded on the bottom of the hitch and a square tube across the bottom of the plate. Yeah... its because of me .

Oh I know roy is on top of it... I mentioned I have dogs and raised my concern to him on the paws falling through the holes in the flat part of the bumper, so he re-siezed them.... they were the same size as the sides, but now are smaller, AND he added mesh under mine cause I have the smaller dogs that do ride in the back... not my choice of size... but even my 35 lbs shelty/chow 'could' get the paw stuck on the long slits, I added a strip of alum and 'tapped' the plate and screw it down... I need to get a better pic of it...

Savage Hybrid Rear Bumper
Installed mine today after getting it powder coated last week. The fit and finish of Savage Off-Road's work is absolutely spot on. And fantastic welds. I am extremely happy with this product as well as their Rock Sliders I previously purchased. FWIW, measuring to the bottom of the fender well, I compressed an additional 1/4" on the rear running OME 890 springs.
As a point of interest regarding my spare tire. After I installed a 2" body lift I had the factory spare tire elevator cut, raised 2" and rewelded higher so everything including the crank handle still all lined up. I slung a 255 mud tire under there and it fit very nicely (only just barely though) with the factory bumper. Unfortunately this no longer fits with the new Savage bumper due to the crossbar being further inward (forward). I expected this most likely would be the case and it just means I will need to order their spare tire carrier sooner than I planned.

This is my favorite rear bumper / swing out tire carrier so far I am not at the point where I 'need' one... But that sure doesn't mean that I don't 'want' one! I am still using 265/75/16 tires at the moment. Jumping up beyond that for me is more of a mental hurdle that involves a lot of other considerations. How long did it take you to get your bumper after ordering?
I remember reading that some of the Savage parts were listed as "out of stock" around black Friday and indicated that they were working on new products for 2017. I couldn't tell if that was to give us a better idea when they would have time to make the thing that is out of stock, or if they were redesigning the thing that was out of stock.. At any rate, sweet bumper man!

Thanks, yes definitely my favorite rear bumper as well. I went with getting the rear first bcs I tow sometimes so I really needed the receiver as I was getting sick and tired of pulling the factory hitch on and off between going off-road or fishing.
Build time for mine was around the same as what they quote but you are correct they did shut off some items going into the holidays so I benefited from the timing of that by a couple of weeks actuallly. I spoke to Roy and he said he did that for a couple of reasons. Something about changing some things around at the shop so they can get better turn times for customers, incorporated with some design enhancements on some of their products. We will see what gets updates soon I hope. I hope this wasn't supposed to be on the down low but I assume since he did tell me none of this is a secret.

Right on. I don't think you are giving anything away. I believe most of that is stated up front on their web page. I am painting my Savage combo skids at the moment. I am just taking a break from applying coats of primer.
For anyone putting this bumper on in future. You don't need a jack. The bumper/plate will sit on the back/top of the 4Runner frame. Makes it one man job very very easy to install. The frame is like a little support.
Looks good though mate.
