New Sport Edition Roof Racks

So I was driving around yesterday and saw a fellow T4R sport edition with the same color (galactic grey) as mine. except this one looked... better... I tried to figure it out and realized it was the white, tubular roof rack. Mine is a sr5 black kind of rectangular one and now I'm jealous. Anyone know where to get one? I searched a little via google and partznet. I have attached a photo I found of the roofrack (its not very good)

When the 06 Sport Edition came out, I knew I just had to get that model. Besides the X-Reas, the tubular steps and rack were the reason I got the Sport.

I'm sure you can purchase it at the dealer, hopefully all the holes match up.

The tube racks and steps are actually gray in color and have a textured finish which is great for gripping. Not powder coated like the SR5 or Limited's rack. Imo the tube steps are also easier to clean and the stepping height is about 1.5 inches higher than the stock running boards. They also have narrower side profile and don't stick out as much as the black running boards. My wife prefers our SR5's steps since they do have more area to plant, but I love my Sport's tubes overall as they seem more durable.

The sport tubes are sweet although I took mine off and are laying in the shed....lol

Makes it look higher . If I do a leveling lift I may put them back on , for me my biggest complaint was I always got my pants or legs dirty (damn long legs).

Yes, starting for the 2006 MY the Sport Editions have tubular style racks and running boards, like the Salsa Red SE pictured above.

where to get racks

I have a 2007 Sport. It did not come with roof racks. I am trying to get some. However, toyota says it is a factory installed option and not available for purchase through a dealer. Do any of you guys know where i can get some after market ones? Only stuff i have been able to find are the usual thules and yakima, and they all require the factory installed racks to work.

Wow they do it a little different in Canada. I don't like the tubular rook rack and running board. I have a 05 Sport and I like the style of running board of rack that came with that model just like the ones on the pic of the Canadian model. The 03-09 Limited are also the same, but they changed the Sport Edition to the tubular in 06.

Was it just direct replacement? No fitting issues? I want to swap out my tube rack for the sr5 ones

Post a want to buy (WTB) in the classified section. A members have removed the OEM rack in favor of complete aftermaket rack/basket. They might be willing to part with the OEM rack.

I think it's so funny that someone wants to trade the tubular racks and steps out for the regular Limited/SR5 ones. I think the Limited ones look like something off of a pavement princess, with the lighted running boards and all that bologna! My sport racks and running boards are so functional! The steps don't hold the dirt, and the roof racks are taller, and fit my basket better! But to each their own.

Can anyone confirm that this is the metal roof rack found on the Sport Edition 4Runner?

I find that the plastic roof rails/cross bars on my SR5 flex waaaay to much and would rather swap it out for the metal counterpart. Love the price too.

I would Trade my Grey Limited Roof Rack for a Sport Rack. Thats if I could get the End Caps off the Rack without breaking them. Grey doesnt go anymore with the Black Pro Wheels at all.
