New steering rack or not

Debating if I should buy a new rack (which comes with inner tie rods and new bushings). Or if urethane bushings and inner tie rods on the original rack is the way to go. All other fromt end parts are new including outer tie rods, lbj's, uniball uca's, and sway bar bushings and links.

Convince me one way or the other!

I'd personally go with the bushings and ITRE's first, simply because they're cheaper.

I'd ALSO go with them first because I just replaced my steering rack, and while it eliminated probably 90% of the 'steering shimmy' it did NOT get rid of it completely.

So that said, I'd go from cheapest to most expensive first.

Find a good used (low miles) toyota rack. Cheaper and lasts longer!
I got a tacoma 4x4 (year 2000) rack with 140 K miles. Needs Driver side dust boot. Let me know.

I just did this, found a used rack with around 90k on it at the junkyard, looked good with no leaks. Scored it for $125, my old rack lasted 235k so this should do me fine for awhile.

That's the way to go. Most used Low miles TOYOTA OEM parts lasts 3, 4 times longer than any "new" auto parts store items. Just inspect before purchase.

My truck has 184 K and probably worth to keep the rack and front suspension I got from the tacoma for any future use.

If its not leaking dont replace it. If it feels tight dont replace it. If its leaking and very loose than replace it. If you can find used low miles, no leaks, or buy NEW oem. I bought a toyota steer.com new rack and I heard good things, but only have a few thousand miles on it. Hopefully it lasts, if not Im down $350 and will be finding a used one.

Sounds like I should replace te bushings and tie rods instead. The rack isn't leaking at all but I didn't want to replace the tie rods and still have play, then have to buy a rack that comes with tie rods. Would have been a waste of the tie rods I bought.

Ill report back after new tie rods and rack bushings. I can see the rack move quite a bit when someone is inside turning the wheel, has 140k on it. The last 30 have been with 285's and mild offroading.
