ok so the size of my tire right now is P265/70R16

I wanna know which of those numbers makes the tire wider and cover more surface area.

I want the same size just wider if yall know what i am saying?

I'm looking at BFG all terrains, rugged terrains or the good year duratrac

any suggestions?

The first number (265) is the width. Its in millimeters. The second is the hieght as a percentage of the width. The only way to go wider is to move to either a 275 (not very many in this size) or a 285. But keep in mind that going wider will most likely increase the height. If you went with a Duratrac, it will give the appearance of a wider tire compared to the P rated you have. If I were you, I'd get a Duratrac in 265 75 16. I think you'll be happy with the width and height of that.

I have had 265/75/16's on my 97 before. Loved the look and only rubbed when I would turn into a steep driveway. I am currently running 275/70/16's and I got the wider width but not as tall.
If you rlooking for width go with the 275/70/16's.

What are you trying to gain from these wider tires? They will just eat up a little more fuel as they are more surface area and weight to spin.

Not to mention without more lift they will rub, and potentially hit your upper control arms requiring spacers ($$)

Go 265/75/16 which is the largest you can fit under a stock lift. Equivalent to a 32" tire.
