New Tires Recommendations Highway

Anyone who wants a skinnier and 1/2 inch taller tire, then look into Michelin's Defender LTX in 255/75/17 and its about 1 lb lighter as well.
yep me also lol. you cant beat michelins in my mind. they will be on everything i drive till im long gone. worth the money imho

Yup, I planned on dumping the ones that came on my 4runner but then I drove with them in the snow and I was absolutely shocked how good they were for such a basic looking tire.
Michelin LTX/MS Defenders. I have them on new 4Runner and Tacoma.
I have used this tire since 2008 on all 4Runner and Tacomas. MIchelin has upgraded this tire thru the years, from LTX/MS - LTX/MS2 - LTX/MS Defender.
Get a good tire shop that has the lug centric with Haweka adapter and a
tech that knows what he is doing, tires ann wheels may need indexing also. I agree with Rack, check manufacture date, and if you are picky, the plant the
tires were manufactured in.

Michelin Defenders hands down, I had a set that lasted forever before I went with ATs Nittos. I really miss that ride. It is a plain looking tire but the tread has some deep channels and performed excellent in Houston rain. I noticed they looked wider from the back than most tires the same size which gave my stock 4runner at the time a some what aggressive stance. Yes go get a quote at Costco with the sale and have Discount Tire beat it!

Very happy with my Cooper At3s 285s p rated good all around use tire ! Orig. bridgestones sucked but the revos ii are also good blend tire !

When I bought my new-to-me 2003 Limited back in 2008 it came with Michelin Cross-Terrains and I was very impressed with them. When it came time to replace them, and the C-Ts were no longer available, I went with the Michelin LTX M/S2 and again was impressed.
When I bought my new-to-me 2011 Limited (with the 20s) back in 2016 it came with Yokohama Geolandars, which did not impress me. I ran them for the summer then got Michelin Premier LTX (one of only a few brands that make the recommended 245/60R20 tires).
I certainly would recommend the Michelins for all-around (city/highway) driving comfort. They are pricey, yes, but worth it imo.

I recently put a set of Nitto Dura Grappler's on my truck. About a 1300 miles so far, no complaints. I had the Terra Grappler's before, but were a little noisy. Plus I do all highway miles. So far the Dura Grappler's have been great in the rain and quiet on the highway. I would have liked to get the Michelin's but the price of the Nitto's were much more affordable. $680 total installed. Here's a photo.

I've got a limited with the 20" wheels that in a couple of weeks will be switching out to the SR5 17" wheel and getting P265/70 R17 Michelin Defender tires.
I've ran them on all my trucks and the traction cannot be beat. Work great in snow and rain and even light off-roading. Used them on gravel and some mud, a little tricky but they work.

I had Michelin LTX MS/2 on my 2010 Trail until March, when one of them had a complete sidewall blowout after 44,000 miles. I replaced them with a set of Nitto Terra Grappler G2 load range E tires, and have been extremely happy. Not noisy at all, do well in the rain, and were really good when I towed a trailer for a Scout troop into the Ozarks, with a 2 mile long steep dirt road into the camp. No problems at all. Climbing back out was easy as well.

Bridgestone Dueler d684 came on my 2018 4Runner.
Was excited to see 6 inches of snow in the street until I drove on it.
Checked tirerack and they were rated next to the bottom.
Checked this forum (and joined) and not a good word about them, but plenty pointed to the number 2 pick on tirerack Michelin Defender LTX
So, got a great deal at Discount Tire, two rebates and they purchased my used Duelers.
Truck tracks straight and I don't have to get up on top of the steering wheel on two lane roads. Waiting for more snow!!!

I got 30k only out of my Dueler's and one was defective and had to be replaced at 24k. Needless to say, my opinion of them is not good.
Kumho Crugens are also highly rated on tirerack.com. I put a set on my last Tacoma before traded in for a 2019 4R TRD Off-Road Premium. The Crugens road great and gripped well in the rain. I always used Michelin LTX's before that and these were comparable at about 25% lower cost.

Good timing on this thread. Wanted to switch out the stock Dunlop's on my 2018 ORP for Michelin Defender LTX. Did some shopping this morning and noticed Tire Choice Total Car Care was open (New Years Day) so called for price and they had a great new years day special on Michelin Defender LTX MS 265/70-R17 all four installed with lifetime Balance and rotation for $779.94 - so I pulled the trigger. Very happy to be rolling on these Michelin's once again.
