New to 4runner. Couple q's

So I have a 07 tacoma. Looking to sell it and get a 4runner and hopefully be debt free. Been finding some good deals on rigs. But not sure what gen is right for me. I'm not sure what the difference in years are. Haven't had much time to search and read on here. Maybe somebody can give a quick rundown of the different gens? Would be much appreciated! Thanks!
