Good morning,

I'm Russ... picked up a 'new to us' 2000 4Runner Limited a few months back with 110k on the clock. So far the truck is great and everything seems to work. (knocks on wood)

I've already upgraded the tires and head unit. The major service was just completed less than 5k ago including the timing belt.

I have only owned 4-cylinder cars for the last decade or so, so this is a change. Some good and some bad as I've determined that the 5VZ-FE while torquey is seriously lacking on the top end. There is a faint popping from the engine about 4.5-5k rpms and a slight loss in power. I have yet to determine what might be the issue whether it be fuel, vacuum, or spark.

Popping? as in backfire? misfire? any codes? I don't wind mine that far up, don't need to go beyond 3500, usually shift at 3000k or less. Lead foot?! haha! :banana:

Slight popping, I'm guessing it's either a fuel or MAF? TPS? Lead foot?... hell yes. But, typically only when I'm passing. That's where it falls flat.
