New to forums - Portland, Maine 2006 SE 4x4

Hey Guys,

Just bought a 2006 4Runner Sport Edition, Silver, with about 36K Miles. Couple of mods I did - OEM Front Skid Plate, Valor Exhaust Tip, Weathertech Cargo Liner, hard wired iPhone for aux audio and charging. Ordered LED's for all interior lights, and looking to do an HID conversion. I also ordered all the parts to remove my double decker cargo system for more room in the back. I have a Thule ski box on the room for carrying snowboards/skis.

Summer tires are the stock Dunlop AT20s (dealer put new ones on before sale). Going to buy winter tires next week, Cooper Discoverer M+S 265/70/17 .

Any suggestions for mods? Thinking about getting an aftermarket nav, maybe the Pioneer Avic-Z110BT or the Eclipse AVN726E.

My 4Runner got broken into a few weeks ago, and I'm still waiting to get it back from the shop. Pics as soon as it comes home.

I remembered reading your post awhile back, I meant to reply way back then but must have got side tracked.

I drive a silver 04 4runner here in Portland, ME also. There are a couple around where I live that park on the street, wondering if one of those could be yours?

Follow this link for what Leds you need. I did exactly the same as this person and it came out great, highly recommended!
Those pics make them look extremely bright, but there not as bright as those pics.

Hey! It's great to see someone else from the same town. I live in the West End, and park in an off-street lot. It's probably not mine. You'd be able to recognize mine from the Thule ski box covered in ski resort stickers. Do you live right in town?

I also did a led interior conversion, OEM skid plate, silverstar lights plus a K&N filter. Owned the runner for a year and love it. I run stock suspension, but when (if) you start dabbling with suspension upgrades, spacer lifts, etc. make sure to post as I have not found anyone in the area that will install a Daystar lift at a "reasonable" price. I would like a small lift or even a leveling kit, but having a hard time trying to justify the cost as the runner is a family vehicle and my daily driver and the lift would be mostly cosmetic as my offroading is limited.

For installing the lift, have you talked to Bruce @ Phil's Foreign Auto in So. Po.? They do good work at reasonable rates. He's located around the corner from Spring Point (end of Broadway).

I was actually thinking about doing a spacer lift as well. Looking at Spidertrax too - to widen out the stance if I put a lift in.

My runner is a daily driver as well - but I'd love to eventually get another daily driver and turn this beast into an off-road machine.

Good to see all the Mainah's on here. I'm planning on doing a coilover lift once it's warm out. Thinking we should have a lift install party, not having a driveway is a pita for working on your vehicle.

Killtrash your mods are looking great. I live on the west end too, small world. My 4runner is usually parked on Grant st or in one of the garages when I'm driving the GTI.

Hey Guys, i'm currently out in Northern California. I just picked up a 2004 sport because my family and I are relocating to Portland ME area and I needed something that could haul a trailer. I will be there around mid May. We should all try and hook up and do a run or so. I would be into some light off road stuff that a stock 4runner can handel. Let me know what you guys think. I don't know if there are any clubs in the area. I'd like to get offroad, but need to start with some intermediate runs since this is my daily driver and not some beater with lockers and 35s. Nice to meet you guys.

I'll be down for that. Where in Greater Portland are you relocating to?
This is my first vehicle I can off-road. Even though I've lived here for awhile, I really have no idea where to take it off-road, doesn't seem to be much in southern maine unless your in the know.

We will be in south portland or within 15 min of portland. Ill be getting there mid May. It would be cool to try and find some places to go. It doesn't have to be hard core just get out off the pavement and enjoy the area.

Pretty much anywhere in south Portland it only takes 5-10 mins to get into portland. I totally hear you, my 4runner isn't equipped for any hardcore offroading. Some dirt trails would be nice. I'm gonna have to start asking around as this will be my first summer with the 4runner.
