New to me 2000 4Runner w/TRD SC

Alright guys after selling my 2nd gen last year I have been in the market for another 3rd gen. I came across this one locally so I had to go check it out. After just a few minutes of talking to the guy I knew I had found what I had been looking for. It is only a 2 owner truck (I am the 3rd) and it has been very well maintained with all service records from the dealer. It needs some attention due to being 12 years old but overall it is in good condition.

Here is the list of plans so far..

Running board removal
Bike rack removal ( I use a hitch mount)
Toytec 3" lift (ordered today)
285/75/16 M/T (thinking Nitto Trail Grapplers)
Paint or Powder Coat Limited wheels gunmetal
Rock Sliders painted to match wheels


I am sure there will be more as I begin working on it but this is a good start. As always your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions are encouraged and appreciated. :bigok:

Thanks guys. Just wish I could have found it sooner. I spent a ton of money on my 2nd gen trying to make myself like it. It was a nice 4Runner but the 3.0 left a lot to be desired. I plan to set the new 3rd gen up similar to the way I did the 2nd gen. Here is a pic of the 2nd gen...

Not much time in the shop today to work on it but I was able to remove the running boards and tint the two front windows to match the back. I have ordered quite a few parts so the build will really begin in a couple of weeks when everything arrives.

Side note: Anyone else realize that OP is the guy who MADE the 3rd Gen T4R Picture Gallery?

In regards to your side note when I joined this forum back in 2006 there were hardly any 3rd gens to be found on here. I had just bought my 97 and was looking for ideas so I posted up asking for pics. To be honest I didn't get much of a response so I ended up migrating over to YT which used to be the place to go for 3rd gen talk but it appears to be pretty dead now. I am glad to see that 3rd gen nation is now active and growing here on T4R.org!

Your 2nd gen looked great, but with that list of mods that you're going to do in the next few weeks, your 3rd gen will be looking just as good!

I think I want to remove the Yakima rack that is on there now and try to find a factory rack at a salvage yard etc. I don't think my 4Runner came from the factory with a rack but it does have the delete strips so I should be able to just remove those and add a factory rack in it's place correct? To me the 4Runner's just look plain without any kind of rack. Ideas?

Yes, it is Yakima bike racks. I think I may take them off completely and try to find a factory rack and a Yakima Load Warrior basket like I had on the 2nd gen.

I removed the bike rack this afternoon. To me it makes the 4Runner look extremely small and plain. What do you guys think?

Doesn't look bad. But a different rack would definitely look really good on it

I think even the factory rack would look much better. Maybe a Yakima basket later on. I am not sure why it didn't come with a rack from the factory. It also doesn't have the rear spoiler and in my opinion it doesn't look right without that either.
