New to me 2006 baseline help

Hey all, new member and first post.

Just got a 06 Sport V8 with 33K miles. It is straight stock and runs great. Paint is in need of lots of sweat and elbow grease but everything else is clean.

So far have put on BFG long trails, Hawk front brake pads, oil change, bottle of techron and lubed front and rear drive shafts.

With the low miles some fluids/maintenance is not yet required and nothing appears to be wrong. But....that don't mean nothin. I would like suggestions and priority of things to do next.

It is a second car and will tow a 16 foot skiff couple times a month around south FL. Also, I have the small racing jack from horror freight that I use for a Miata. Will it work? For sure getting bigger jack stands.

You made a very wise choice by choosing a v8 runner. You will definitely not regret when you are pulling your boat. As for the small jack it should work by my own opinion is that I would invest in a better jack and some nice jack stand.

Yeah, the stands are going to be a must, jack will have to wait. Putting the $$ toward the maintenance for now. Want to do all the fluids, just not sure which should be first. Don't have a garage so can only do a few things at a time.

Love the V8, don't even know the boat is back there. The rear does seem to drop when hitched, not sure the sport (xreas?) suspension is the best for towing? Very smooth ride though.

First of all, CONGRATS
I myself got an 06 V8 just about a month ago and couldn't be happier. Mine is a DD and won't be towing anythign with it. It has 49k miles and I myself have no idea what maintenance to do on it. I just changed the oil and air filter. Did ALL the 06 SR5 V8's came with the XREAS suspension?

I would drain and refill the gear oil in the front/rear diffs and xfer case and give the brake fluid a change. Change gear oil every 30k for regular/60k for synthetic, especially if towing. Brake fluid probably isn't necessary, but due to age couldn't hurt.

Coolant doesn't really need attention until the 100k mark, PS fluid probably won't need attention for a while, and trans. fluid doesn't really need attention until the 60k mark (100k if not towing).

Congrats! My 04 V8 is still going strong 183K...in terms of a base line...here is what I have done:

1 Switch over to Synthetic. I replaced the diffs, transfer case and motor oil to Amsoil. I replaced brake fluid (flushed) with Amsoil synthetic brake fluid as with the power steering as well.

2. Kept the WS fluid in the trans and replaced/flushed the radiator with Toyota OEM fluid.

3. Replaced the plugs with the NKG BKR6EIX-11

4. Lube the shit out of both front and rear drive shafts with Amsoil syn grease...lock in the fronts every once in a while to ensure proper working order.

Amsoil makes a fluid for just about everything on the Runner, just plug in year make and model and it will give you all the products and the capacity for each. They even have a place called "My Garage" where you can log your maintenance and even send yourself reminders.
