New to me 96 4runner/ lift set up

First post here, I just purchased a 1996 4runner SR5 with 200k to use as a weekend toy in the woods. going to run 285s and a locker, bumpers and sliders after some time.

after much searching I have decided to save $500 and put together my own lift, please let me know if I have missed anything!

If so, build your own adjustable track bar.

I'm putting my own lift together and will be into it for ~$500. Using Tundra springs in front, otherwise very similar to yours. I'm not using Bilsteins in the rear either. No need, IMO.

LOL yes, that stuff. going to use the new 16×8″ Konig Countersteer Type X wheels, so no need for spacers, also in the future thinking about adding another transfer case using the Marlin crawler set up with the 4.70:1. Need to research that further.

Don's forget the replacement bushings for the front shocks.

That bilstein PN is the same one I used (for the Tundra) It comes with 1/2" bushings. Needs to be pressed out and replaced. with the 3/4" bushing.
They're the bolts bushings not the insulator.

How much lift are you going for? I did the Tundra front coil change out and used the OME 906 springs in the rear, along with the Bilstein front and rear shocks on my 97 4R and got a two inch lift. I also got a comfortable ride and with the wheel alignment, I have had no issues. The coil springs are twice what the factory installed and the install was not hard.

Look up Speedy's Garage on Youtube for the install and changeout.

The issue I have with the factory tundra springs is the price, cheapest I gound them was 140 each, the Eibachs are 150 a pair

guess I need to add the upper spring isolators as well

looking for 2.5-3" enough to clear the 285/75/16s with minimum rubbing at full stuff.

The Eibach's won't work with the stock isolators I take it?

My Tundra springs were $90 off of a very low mileage (37k miles) '03 rollover. Looks like Grandpa drove it once a month maybe.

How many wraps are your LC springs? I have the 7.5/8 wrap versions.

I have decided to buy new tophats that come with the isolators MOOG, they are $30 each and this way I can more or less assemble the front system before I take the truck apart, and I'm only compressing one set of springs, also going to replace the lower BJs for $48 each

I would get OEM LBJs, personally. $185 w/free shipping from Camelback, including the bolts.

So I have ordered everything but wheels and tires, I ended up with 861 OME rear springs and not the LCs. Also got a spartan locker and the oem lower BJs. Think I'm going to use the FN 5 stars and 285 Duratracs going to be like Christmas in August next week!
