New to me T4R. What are these mods??

Hey all. Love the forum, so much great stuff here. First time poster so bear with me and thanks ahead of time!

Bought this 2007 V6 SR5 from a used car dealership about 3 months ago. Didnt get that much information with it other than the factory options (which were not outlined well) and it seems like the PO did a few things to it.

First of all.. While I was under the dash this afternoon to do the fog light mod and constant 12v, I saw a small box with two wire splices coming directly from the ignition and two other heavier gauge slices that went up behind the dash. I believe it might be associated with the receiver by my rear view mirror (also have no idea what its for)?

It seems like some sort of remote ignition or extra security system. Should I leave it installed or could it be a potential reliability problem? Could I buy a remote to use the remote start? I dont care too much about the idea of remote start but if its installed already (?) I guess I could buy a remote.

Any thoughts are appreciated! Really just curious what it is and what I need to do to get it working if its even worth it.

I cant read the text on the thing on the windshield, but it does seem to be an afermarket alarm or keyless system. You should be able to remove it, if you are super careful about making sure nothing else is disconnected in the process. what does the button on the windshield part do?

It says part number RX14PBL and then mobile.audiovox.com. the button on the windshield thing and the button on the box wired into the ignition don't do anything. The windshield does flash a blue light when a first start the truck though.

As so often Google is your friend. The FLTB1 is a transponder key bypass kit needed for a remote start (probably the receiver by the mirror).

The device on your windshield is the antenna/reciever for the alarm, the button is used for programing and as a Valet switch.

Gotchya. Any idea where the transponder would be wired too. I tried to trace the heavy gauge wire back under the dash but lost it in the harness. I'm guessing it would go to the ecu to allow startup? Anyone with a similar system know what type of remote needed to use this system?

No Idea, but as was mentioned google is sometime your friend, I would do a search for installation instructions/owner's manual, and new remote, etc.

I hope you haggled the sale price down with all of these mods installed on your new 4R! Simply because of the work needed to troubleshoot/remove everything IMO.

Anywho...I would also consider signing up on forums that is specialized in mods such as aftermarket security systems for automotive, etc and see if someone there can help you out in case no one here has a similar system installed
