--New Toyota Owner-- ??s re: tires & lift

Hello! I just recently bought a 98 Toyota 4runner. I want it to look more aggressive. Originally, I thought I would like a 3 inch lift. It came with P265/70R16 tires. I know I need bigger tires. But can I keep the same rims? What size tire? What would you recommend is the best way to go about this. Do I need to purchase a lift and new brake lines and radiator hose? Or would it be easier to get bigger tires and add spacers to make them stick out a little further? I hope someone can help me. I can't get straight answers anywhere else. Thanks for your time.
