New tranny flush method - super easy

I had done this on my '07 Tacoma and spent all night pumping in 3 gallons of atf with a small hand pump. Told myself there has to be a better way and this is it! Holy crap this is so cool.

I picked up this cheap chemical sprayer at WalMart for $8.50. It works better than I even hoped for pumping ATF. All you do is give it a few pump, turn it on and kick back, pop open a cold one and let the pressure do the work. I have it plumbed into the atf lines that go to the tranny cooler. Simple.

I turn the engine on to pump out 1/2 a gallon then turn it off and pump in 1/2 a gallon of fresh ATF. Repeat till the ATF coming out is bright red. I have a piece of clear tubing at the end of the output line so I can monitor the color.

After that I run the engine, cycle through the gears and heat up the tranny. I top off the ATF to the correct level using the sprayer pump into the ATF dipstick pipe.

Just like the Motive brake bleeder. It looks good.

I have to ask how much of a PITA it was on the sealed tranny of your Tacoma (I have never done one)?

I also own a motive bleeder but I only use it for brakes. I looked at it thinking it may work but decided against it for a couple of reason. The motive does not have the nice on/off valve and the hoses are terrible and hard to work with.

The Tacoma was very easy. I have the towing package and it has a stock tranny cooler that is easy to use the line going to it. Only real difference is having to crawl underneath to top off the fluid.

Hi everyone. New to forum. I got a suggestion from a guy who does the flushes at my local Pep Boys. Pull the return line from the cooler. Put it in a bucket. Have someone start the vehicle until it just starts to gurgle and turn it off. Fill the pan back up through dipstick tube. Repeat a couple times and the fluid will change color all of a sudden then your done. I gave it a shot and it worked fantastic.
