I started hearing a clunking noise coming from the front of my 4Runner (drivers side only). Roughly around the wheel area, which is why I assume it's suspension related. This is my first off-road vehicle so I could be wrong and this is normal, but wanted to run it by everyone here for peace of mind.
I know that some of the older 5th gen 4runners were having this issue, but the parts have been replaced and are apparently in all of the new 4runners now, so that shouldn't be the issue, however I still am getting a clunk noise.
I can't narrow it down to when it happens, such as speed, level of flexing by the vehicle, temperature (it's warm here, so cold isn't the issue like with many others), etc. It seems to do it at random times, but only when offroading. I've never heard it on regular dry pavement.
I've looked and can't see anything like rocks or something lodged in somewhere, so is this a new problem with the shock area like the old ones? Is this just normal and I'm paranoid?
The vehicle only has 2,000 miles on it and hasn't done anything extreme when offroading. I always make sure to take the bumps and ruts at a slow speed, and haven't bottomed out on anything that should have damaged something.
Does this sound normal? Serious? This was one of the "louder" times, as it's typically a little quieter, but the sound varies too.
