Hi all,
I bought a 1998 4runner sr5 last saturday. Very happy in the first week of ownership. Today I'm going thru the motions of title transfer and smog check. Well, it failed smog check - tech said it was double the limit on the low end.
I know it passed last years smog check - so it can't be anything major. I'm thinking it's a bad CAT, dirty air cleaner, or combinations of other "tuneup" items. The tech has been in "diagnostic" mode all afternoon - I can't imagine it's that difficult to troubleshoot.
Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone had recent smog problems in the Cali area - and what the fix was.
