Right, but what about after a recovery? If you attachment point isn't directly in front of the winch, wouldn't the line pile up on the side of the spool?

You can see the line inside pretty easy through the grille and the fairlead. Getting the spool tangled up is a much bigger issue with wire rope. I've never had an issue with synthetic. The fairlead is narrow enough that it'll still spoil fine regardless of the pull angle.
Ideally it's evenly distributed, but it's really not meaningful because you'll be pulling most of the line off the spool for most which pulls. So if 30 feet is all off to one side, you'll be pulling it back off the spool before the next use anyway.
Ultimately it's just not a problem that really ever happens on the smaller spool winches that fit in these. I have had issues at times on my 8274, but it holds twice as much line on a much larger spool and pulls a lot faster. In that case I do re spool occasionally after a trip to reset it.

Pretty much agree, steel rope is a different animal, but with synthetic rope after I finish a pull I usually take the time to reset it. IF it looks bunched up on a single side. All you have to do is keep minimal resistance on the rope and guide it back in in a controlled side to side manner.

Yes, thats the one, I used the lower holes...I prefer the light bar I used because of its reviews, and light output for a single row bar.
I'll bump this back up, I installed the bumper and a Smittybilt X2O Gen 2 12k winch last night... I'm not mechanically inclined, was working on the ground, and also had to remove the Apex Overland Front Recovery Points (and install a sway bar spacer) and the total time was probably in the neighborhood of 5ish hours (including setting up the winch) with another pair of hands helping me.
My bumper was another of the Amazon purchases, with a few Amazon gift cards accumulated, it made wonderful fiscal sense. That being said, mine had a few paint chips and there is a slight dent in the top tube on the driver's side, neither of these are worth sending it back over.
Things of note (other people have said this, but in case someone stumbles upon this reply)...
-- The Warn bumper is NOT compatible with the Apex Overland Front Recovery Points, not even close
-- I did have to space the sway bar down or else the Warn frame extension brackets would have hit it
-- I did not use the small flat bumper brackets, I saw no point in doing this. The driver's side was fine with the single 10mm into the fender liner (through the bottom of the bumper); and the passenger's side was fine with the 10mm and the Warn-supplied bolt w/ fender washer & nut
-- If you use a Smittybilt X2O winch, mount the control box on the center or slid towards the driver's side. Both of these allow very easy access to reach in through the front bumper holes and reach the wireless switch, the wired plug in, as well as the clutch release
-- Easiest way to bolt the winch in, support the bumper on two chairs and lay under it
-- For bumper trimming, just inside the silver trim (TRD Off Road/Trail) seems to be a very good starting point. We did minor sanding after that phase and then hit the trimmed bumper edge with some door edge guard.
Oh, and now a photo (sorry, it was nearly 1am, taking pics was not high on the list of priorities at the time)
As a side note my plan is to upgrade to Dobinson's 314 springs (with my 574 struts); I already have the in the garage, but we leave for a 5500 mile trip in a few days and I don't see the install happening before the trip...

Anyone have a pic of the cut plastic bumper cover prior to install?

So I installed mine today. I was unsure of the trimming, so I figured I would post my cutting.
I followed the side groove all the way up, then 1 & 1/4 inch down from the bend all the way across the front. The little bumper cover flap (the 1 1/4 bit) edge sat up a bit so I put two small bolts in that just tighten with a fender washer on the inside. This provides enough "pull" to make the bumper cover sit flush on the top of the warn bumper.
Definately needed the sway bar drop to avoid contact. I did have to oval one bolt hole, but no biggie.
Hope this helps someone.

I bought a Warn 100022 hybrid bumper/winch mount, but hardware and parts are missing. I am wondering if someone could measure the center to center hole distance for the 2 parts label “A5”? (These go from the Warn to support the outer oem plastic bumper)

Well my Warn Hidden winch mount showed up with damage-
the scary part is the cardboard has barely got a mark on it but look at this dent in the bullbar>
Makes me think that bullbar is some very thin steel.
Have an email in to the seller asking for a replacement or an adjustment.

Just got the Warn Semi Hidden Winch mount on with a VR Evo 10S. Good winch access, beefy, sticks out a bit from the plastic for some front end protection. I like it, but one thing is bothering me: If your winch line is headed up hill at all it will be rubbing along the sharp edge of the bumper (after exiting the Hawse fairlead). I am considering getting a 1.5 inch thick fairlead like the Epic or Factor 55, but top to bottom opening on those is a little wider (based on what I can surmise) and therefore probably doesn't change the geometry too much. Anybody fixed this? Angle grinder to that center part of the bumper right above the fairlead?
Other stats : SwayBar relocate, Radflo 2.5 coilovers set to 3" with remote reservoirs, 700 lb front springs 2" Toytec medium rear springs, high Clearance Bumper Cut, waiting to upgrade tires shortly. Rides good with those shocks and springs.

Changed out fairlead to Warn Epic 1.5" Hawse in Gunmetal (type III anodized) & this problem is way improved. It could still be an issue with a really high angle pull, but I can angle the cable greater than 45 degrees up without bumper contact. Certainly still think Warn needs to carve out a little more of the bumper there or recess it. But, I think this fixes it enough that I don't feel it's a necessity for me to grind it down. Did the 1.5 factor 55 fairlead bolt on or did you have to cut the bumper a bit to fit it? I have the same bumper and winch and have this fairlead arriving today. Also, what was the hardware size that was needed? Thanks!
