So, those in New York City are being told to give up or have your weapons professionally modified. Shotguns and rifles that are capable of holding more than 5 rounds are illegal to possess in the city limits. Letters were apparently sent out to the gun owners saying to turn in your guns, have them modified or send them out of the city along with a utility bill or some other document proving residence o where that firearm is sent.

I don't see this ending well for New York. All I have to say is New York citizens have a fight on their hand. I hope they fight back and set the standard to their government that they will not tolerate restrictions on their rights. If anyone knocks on my door wanting to take my guns, I feel bad for them and their family that will miss them. They may take my guns but not while I'm breathing.

I don't know the laws there but a part of the purchase may be registering the guns. If so then you don't really have a choice unless you can get one "off the books" at a gun show.

This reminds me that Oregon is not such a bad place. I am very sorry for all the New York gun owners who have to put up with this crap, but I hope they stand their ground.

It's a scary thought, really. Once upon a time I was so sure that our government would never, ever get so far out of control that I could imagine the use of our second amendment as a final check against government power. Those gun conspiracy guys were crazy. All guns were AK-47s or M-16s, and no civilian had a need for them.

Granted, I grew up in Portland, Oregon and was raised by some very left parents (the perfect recipe to worship government), but I am far more self aware and educated now. And I have two weapons, a 10/22 and a shotgun that is undocumented. Both weapons are illegal according to New York law. And if I were faced with this situation, I would be either moving somewhere else or keeping my guns just as they are. I just wish there was something the rest of us could do.

I sure wonder how they are going to reach out to all those in the city limits who haven't registered their guns...hopefully said owners will all be law-abiding enough and voluntarily have this modification done. Wouldn't want to get into trouble when commiting a crime you know

And yeah I'm aware. VA just recently lost the governors race to them. The GOP wouldn't back it's own party candidate because he is a member of the Tea Party. Pathetic, cut off your nose to spite your face.
