Hi,
Just bought a 1988 which had a new rebuilt engine installed by previous owner. He also replaced entire cooling system, MAF etc. HUM But it has pretty bad oil leak from passenger side head in rear. It is hard to see, but "some" is
coming from valve cover. But it seems like it may be coming from another nearby place in upper right rear of engine.
Warranty is over... Had seen "more than expected" white smoke at startup and it ran SLOW.(I have V6-Auto combo...understand slow is normal). Pulled
plugs (2 where gunked up....platimum pinhead plugs..) compression was around 165 on driver side. passenger side around 165 with rear/right at 150...Hum just happens to be near my oil leaks. Replaced plugs with suggested plugs(they did not like what PO had installed). No smoke now..Will pull plugs
in a few weeks. Had shop check for HG leak.. All they did was smell radiator fluid and said it was fine....
I don't want to replace valve cover gaskets then find out HG's where gone after the fact. Frankly I'm confident in myself doing Valve cover gaskets, but rather stay-away from HG.
--Does HG recall I read about apply to 1988 vehicles? And if anyone could
run my VIN to see if it qualifies for any I would really appreciate it
I think this was California bought and currently live in Bay Area.
