No 4Runner yet, but I am going to start looking in the next 6 months or so for a 3rd gen. I've been reading every thread I can possibly read on them and gawking at some of your rides for a couple of weeks now.
My name is Jordan, I do graphic design and commercial automotive photography. Since 2008 I have daily driven an MX5. Wifey is wanting kids and my car wont be very practical on that front. So now that it is paid for it makes more sense, to me, to pick up an older 4runner and keep my Miata for track duties and weekend runs. That little car has spoiled me to the extent of nothing south of $50k in a car excites me in the slightest bit. Thought about a Wrangler, but for the price you pay it just doesn't seem justifiable in any area other than offroad capabilities...plus the reliability of Toyota is absolutely legendary.
I have an appetite for offroading/outdoors/camping/etc and need something that can get me further into the sticks. We try and do Ouray every 3-4 years, but am anxious to cross some more locations off my list. My wife drives a Commander which has done well, but I don't really want to sink a tremendous amount of money into it. With the current 2.75" lift and 30.5 tires I'm getting 10-12mpg. This isn't a shock (full time 4wd/hemi) and I'm not *****ing but for something that is rarely taken off road, its not practical to fit even bigger tires and a more substantial lift.
Anyway, I look forward to crossing paths with some of you in the future and hopefully I'm driving a 4Runner sooner rather than later!
