Hello, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Paul and I recently picked up a 97 SR5, 3.4, AT, 4x4, with 218,000 on the clock for $3k. Truck has no rust, was very well maintained, and runs like new. I have changed the oil and t-case fluid and wanted to do the tranny but have been having trouble locating a tranny filter. I called the dealer and they said that "Toyota doesn't use filters in there auto trannies". From everything I've been reading here that's not true. Also, NAPA told me that they could order one but needed to know which transmission I have. I assume these came with two different tranny options?

Nice truck and welcome. The transmission has a wire mesh screen that can be cleaned and reused. If you decide to clean it I would get replacement gaskets from the dealer that go between the sceen and transmission.
