2001 2WD SR5. 158k on the odo.

My mother passed down to my brother, a while back, who went to go buy new car yesterday and wanted to trade this in. Since the check engine light was on and it has a bunch of cosmetic damage the dealership only wanted to give them $1000. I told my parents no way, I'd give them $1000 for the car. My dad just said take it.

Time to get it tuned up and show some love that it's been neglected for so long. Needs new tires and an alignment. Then I'm going to get either a bike rail for the top or a hitch mount rack. Interior is beige which is lame but I'm not going to complain for the price.

My advice would be to go for the hitch mount rack, so much easier and quicker to load.

Sucks when you get re-ended with a $4k bike though. I'll never have a hitch or trunk mounted carrier again!

Very true. Also sucks when you forget it's on top and smash it into your garage - two of my riding buddies have actually done that. One thing I don't like about the roof mount is all the bug hits that the bikes take. I remember toting a couple up top on a trip to NC, and when we got there the front of both bikes were a mess.

I knew someone that did that too, not me though. When I take mine on long trips I use a Skinz Protector on the front of it.
