Hi everyone,
I have a 1998 v6 limited going on 4years now 168k on the clock. And she's been faithful getting me and the the family where ever we need. When I first got it 28kmiles ago I did all the general maintenance crap, spark plugs, fuel filter , oil change And have religiously changed my oil with premium synthetic.only prob I've had with it untill now was I had to replace the alternator. But everysince I got it I've always heard this grinding noise like the fan was rubbing on something on and off.I looked around engine compartment and didn't see anything rubbing so thought what the hell and left it alone. Well its continually gotten worse to the point that all I can hear when the engine is running is that grinding sound and now it seems like it'll catch / make a ticking sound every so often so I finally decided to investigateit and took the ps belt off and the sound lessened but was still there so I took the alt belt off to and the sound when completely away. My neighbor whos a mechanic looked at it.with.me and grabbed the fan and moved it and the pulley/shaft that right behind the fan had a little play and he said I need to replace that.my question is has anyone else experiencedr this and does anyone know of the part #'s for.what I need to replace it. Also is it a complicated procedure? I have limited mech knowledge but.learn fast and have basic tools.wrenches/sockets
Any help would begreatly appreciated

Also the grinding sound ( if that makes any sense ) occurs all the time, warm, cold doesn't matter. And it seems to get worse as the rpms increase And the truck is bone stock no mods.
