My boyfriend got this 4runner for me from a junkyard, so we know nothing of its history besides the obvious. lol I have issues with the power to the stereo and basically anything linked to the acc fuse under the dash. I have replaced it. There was a viper alarm in it that was already disconnected when I got the truck. Looks like someone cut it with a knife.. I do not know where it was connected to the vehicle even though I have taken apart a majority of the dash. The acc says it also is part of the power for the alarm so wondering if its linked to my issues with how certain electrical items do not work. I don't know if there is a fuse somewhere that I'm not finding since there is a large area that is not very accessible without tearing out the complete dash area...
Another issue is that my dome lights were working n now they have stopped working with the doors unless the key is on...
Hoping someone else has come across this issue with their Runner.. Thanks in advance... Jennifer
Ok clarification....
Not a factory stereo. There is no power to the all time power line so I ended up running a cheater to the fuse box to get power. This is spliced into the dead hot line which is still connected like it was hot. The person who had the runner before me had also run a cheater but hadn't used the matching connectors to the original Toyota connectors that r unplugged from the factory amp. I had rewired the hack job back to the correct connectors n swapped the non factory stereo it came with to another non factory stereo that was from another runner with the proper connectors. Without the cheater I have no power in any position.
The dome problem started during the taking apart of the dash n replacement of the stereo. If key is in any power position I will get dome lights..
Yes I have a multimeter... I used a test light on the pins to verify power. It was a lien sale due to it being towed... Runs great..Just passed a smog with 222,000 miles..
I also only have power to the cig lighter n power ports when the key is in power positions. No clock at all but I may have found that issue in another post.. Checking the connectors for it tomorrow.
