NGK Iridium IX plugs

I just had ordered 6 new NGK Iridium spark plugs for my 2008 4Runner (V6). I had ordered the correct ones from Rock Auto (LFR6AIX-11) 6619 however when I go to check the gap I am seeing gaps of .039 on at least 4 of my six. I bent one (found out NOT to gap Iridiums) :embarassed: and one had a gap around .035. Will these work correctly? I thought the gap was supposed to be .044.

Also is it 3 Denso plugs in the right side of the engine (Passenger side) and 3 NGKs on the Drivers side?

I can't comment on gaping iridium plugs since I use the factory copper plugs and still put 90k miles on them (just changed them yesterday). But, yes, you'll typically find NGK's on one side and Denso's on the other.

You can regap iridium plugs, but you need to be very careful, the v6 wants to be gapped at .039, most of the iridium plugs out the box are gapped at .044, alot of people should recheck the gap on plugs. They may come way off spec.

A relatively stock engine is not going to be that sensitive to a gap difference a few thousandths of an inch off "spec."

Besides, even with a slightly larger gap, iridium plugs still take less voltage to jump the gap due to the much smaller volume of ionized air.

Got all 6 NGK spark plugs installed. Engine sounds great, going to go out and road test after the Seahawks vs Broncos game. GO SEAHAWKS!!! :rockon:
