Nice 98 Supercharged 4wd in Chattanooga

Edit... This is a 98, not a 97. I called about this one and they are asking $6999. It looks to be very clean and stock except for the supercharger. The only bad thing I see in the pictures is that someone went a little crazy underneath with spray paint. I would be all over this one if I was looking. Heck, I thought long and hard before posting this because I was thinking about buying it and selling mine.

I've been looking at this one too; they usually have some pretty decent 3rd Gens for sale. I'm in the market for my first 4runner, so I check SR5 Auto's inventory every few days.

One thing that concerns me is that all that spray paint (why?) on the underside might be covering up rust.

The other thing is the supercharger, how involved would it be to remove it? I know some people like them, but I would much rather sell it and use the funds to baseline.

How was your experience with calling? Knowledgeable? Friendly?

Nice '97

That guy buys a lot of 4runners, usually pretty good about getting the better ones. I think he gets most of them from auctions, but I know some have come from individuals. Pretty honest from the few times I've talked with him.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the spray paint. I have sprayed under mine just to make it look fresh but I got the dirt off first and didn't spray everything.

I don't think it would be too much trouble to remove the supercharger. You might have to locate an upper intake manifold but I'm sure there would be someone on here that would like to have your supercharger and could swap parts out with you that you needed.

He was friendly. I didn't ask a lot of questions. I was just wanting to know the price.

should you end up buying that 4Runner, then I would do that if only I were closer...

I ran an autocheck report on this 4runner. It spent its life up in Ohio and Indiana until a couple years ago if anyone is interested. No accidents showed up.

I was about to say, the frame rails look to be in good shape, and the front suspension components seem to be in good order as well. The differential just seems to be a little rough, but easily sandable and fixable.
