Night shades blacked out tails?????

Someone posted a couple of weeks ago some pics of their night shades tail lights. They did leave the reverse, signal and a circle for brake lights open, who was this? Can someone pull the link up? i searched with no luck. I am looking to do the same and wanted to see some pics again.

Gaterose found my post before I saw this I painted mine alittle over a month ago I also painted my 3rd brakelight since then as well. I did 3 coats of nightshades scuffing between each coat and 3 coats of clear scuffing between each of those coats as well. So far seems to be holding up and no fading alot of people I work with did this to but didn't clear and their lights are faded and matte looking now but not matte in a good way

So is this clear coat method the best thing to use when VHT'ing. Im doing mine soon.. Ps what type of clear coat should I get?

From what I have seen it seems to be the best method I used some duplicolor clear I also didn't sand I used 3M maroon scuff pads since they are less abrasive then fine sandpaper

So you did night shade coats... then clear coat coats... with scuffing inbetween every coat? what does the scuffing do?

Yes I scuffed the lights first wiped them off with a clean rag then vht then repeated after about 45 min between each coat I didn't scuff the last coat of clear though. basically paint doesn't very well to a shiny or slick surface a scuffed surface gives the paint better adhesion.

Thanks guys, Gater its closer to what Trev posted, see how the reverse light isn't painted. Someone recently did the same with the brake light circle and the flasher, left them open and night shaded all other red parts. I cant find it either.

i nite shaded my 3rd brake light. but not my tails. i am awaiting extra cash to get the burtman tails.

i am not a fan of the blacked out tails with vht. here in tucson its the "vato" thing to do. i see alot of old beaters with it and you see the driver and understand why. the car is a POS with faded paint, black smoke pouring out the exhaust, backfire every time they idle, get 2 mpg, a crack the size of jupiter through the windshield.... yet they have 24" rims, bottom out on every speed bump and have blacked out tails along with that irritating woofer that they just have to "bump". i understand loud music (i am known for it(mainly rock and metal)) but the bass thing... idk... not my thing. and alot of people around here do the tails so dark you cant see them brake in the day. PIA.

plus i was always led to believe its illegal. from what i understand your main tail lights have to be red. or show some sort of red, that way people know where your brake lights are. but i could be wrong. no one ever gets stopped here for it.

Thats why I am looking for the one with that part unpainted lol. The ones from Burtman are chepa right now, and look good. $155 isn't bad..

I rEmember seeing that runner with the signals, reverse and circle lights clear with rest black. If you don't find the picture of it I plan on dOing it this weekend an I'll post pics. But I'd like to find that runner your looking for.

theyve been 155 for as long as i can remember. but i just broke my shoudler playing hockey. and i dont have medical insurance (my work has that option, but im 21 and immortal thus i dont need it :ybrick: ) so i owe like $1400 to my local ER. damn priorities...

also my gf seems to be making my money disappear faster than i make it.

Each state has their own laws. Some states it's illegal to modify any lights. But even the states that have the laws...it's usually not strictly enforced.
