Great looking rig, I think we have the same arb suspension setup, 60001/90000 and 885/895. Do you rub anywhere with the 285 tires? thanks!

Yeah, I still rub a bit.

In the front, I barely rub and only when I stuff it. I rub slightly on the top of wheel well up front and slightly on the fender. Thought I cleared up front, but saw rub marks on the top of the wheel well after I accidentally jumped it

Trimming
Front: Body mount, pinch weld, fender, mud flap removed
Rear: None. Still have mud flaps on. At full stuff, I rub on mud flaps, door and top of the fender

The Wildpeaks are one of the largest 285/70s around, if you run a different tire you will likely rub less

haha, I was just thinking the other day I should add some more photos to my build thread. I should also subscribe to notifications so I don't miss random posts on it :P

It's gonna look even better once it's finished. Still have the finishing touches to for it

[MENTION=119029]NinjaOne[/MENTION] the SCS are a -10 offset wheel right? How far would you say the tires stick out outside the fenders? In these photos it looks almost dead even, if not an inch out. Looks good and I think im going to run a similar setup.

Pretty much dead even with the top of the fender, looks like more poke than it actually is w/out mud flaps. Might be a 1/2" beyond that, idk


 
Got my MetalTech 2" LT springs in last Sat. in preparation for new shocks. Even with the OME shocks, noticeable increase in ride quality with the dual-rate springs vs the OME 895 springs



New shocks and extended brake lines going in next week

They are technically 'dual rate' not 'progressive' but I know they say both on their website. Anyway, its cool how they work once you do some reading about dual rate/progressive/linear springs.

Regardless, impressed so far. Can't wait to get the shocks on to see their full potential.
 
Late build update
XO Fab sliders installed, riding on King Ext Travel coilovers w/700# coils. Sliders are at a ~13° upward angle, trimmed rear doors to clear and allow them to be tighter to the body.



 
Do you have any details of the build on your tire carrier? Looks real useful without needing to replace a complete rear bumper.

I could snag some pictures, but I have some changes to it I'm planning. Arm has a bushing, want to change to a bearing-based hinge to better support the weight and a lighter arm. Also considering changing the latch to something better easier to manage. May end up switching to a dual swingout It is basically a full rear bumper replacement (except instead of plating the sides like most aftermarket options I opted to trip the stock plastic bumper cover and re-install over the bumper structure)

It's a tube wrapped around the inside of the rear bumper cover. Rear adds a little plating to support the swingout arm and some changes to the factory crossmember

Hahaha, yes!

Build update
Went camping several months ago, hit an object and it caved the skid in enough to contact the passenger side diff bracket and it snapped. Broken diff bracket introduced enough play into the drive train to break the passenger CV. I was in 4LO with center locked, the center unlocked sending all the power to the rear stripping the ring/pinion gears. The broken broken diff mount also allowed the longer passenger diff tube to rotate up and crack both the upper and lower oil pans. Shops were quoting a min of $7k.





With the help of some amazing friends, we pulled it apart and replaced the pans/rear third etc and got it running as good as new. Toyota service manual recommends pulling the engine to replace the oil pans on the 2UZ, but we were able to do it from underneath by pulling the steering rack and the front diff. Toyota installed the racks before the engine was in, pulling the rack requires cutting and replacing the driver side rack bolt. Tie rods were seized, so those were also replaced. On the bright side, engine looked super clean.

Scored a solid deal on the ARB twin, so OBA is in my very near future as soon as I finishing with a mounting bracket. Opting to mount on the passenger side behind the airbox


Fast forward another month, I replaced my Falken Wildpeak 285/70/17s with Cooper STT Pros in 315/70/17. I didn't need to replace,but found a deal on the Coopers I couldn't pass up. On the SR8s, they cleared fairly easily. I had to do practically zero trimming to retain about 80% of my suspension cycle. They rubbing my shock resi's (easy to move) and a little bit on the body (expected) They also were rubbing on my UCAs (unexpected) at full lock. They cleared the uniball/spindle area by a mile, but at full lock they rubbed on arm portion towards the front of the vehicle.


While that was manageable, I found a deal on F5s in 17x9, -38mm I couldn't pass up. Was able to land the set of five for the cost to move the tires over. She may be a little bit thicc right now :first:




With the F5s, it rubs like crazy on the body and the front bumper, but those should both be easy to fix with a couple hours of love with a hammer/saw. Clears the shock resi's, frame and UCA now so I'm happy.

Went on a snow run yesterday, so far I'm in love with both the Coopers and the tire size.




Next on the list is gears and lockers. I have a line on a rearend that's already geared and locked with 4.88s for a reasonable price, so just a a front
