Nissan threw in the towel with the pathfinder.

Its a station wagon now. They gave up the pathfinder. Xterra is the Nissan SUV now.

Back in the 90's I drooled over both 4runners and pathfinders. Sad very sad.

I agree 110%. I looked at some photos of the new pathfinder last night and thought it was not a good true suv anymore. Then tonight I saw a commercial for it and it seriously sunk in. It has the lines of a Subaru Outback. I too am a fan of the older pathfinders (btw that lifted wd-21 in the second pic is sweet). It is a sad day for Nissan I think.

I agree...Pathfinder that we know it is gone. Hard core trail riding is now a thing of the past, esp. given high gas prices and the fuel economy pressure that is put on the manufacturers by the EPA. It is tough for car manufacturers to continue making more than one or two vehicles with off-road priorities. FJ Cruiser will be on the axing table soon. After that, the 4runner may be the last of the Toyotas that you can modify (aka aftermarket support) and take it off-road without major repair bills.

For me, my off-roading days are over. Where i live, it takes over 2 hours to get to a local off-road park. I also have 3 kids now. No time for off-roading in b/w taking care of the kids and working. Hell, i am just happy to have an AWD in the family! :) So, yeah, i am in the Pathfinder's demographics! :( But nah, i am a minivan person! Screw these minivan posers!! :D

I did not mean to offend! I almost bought one for my wife 2 years ago. Instead we bought a 3rd gen:wink2:. Outback wagons especially the new ones look dam good and for where I live in Colorado they are a smart choice.

GREAT! Now, you're saying that i have a girl car!! Just kidding, i wasn't offended at all. How can i be? I drive a minivan, a wagon, and a hybrid. It's everyone else that is jealous of me! :reddance:

Amazing. Does Momma have you hand-wash the dishes and paint her toenails, too? Hope she's nice with the whip. LOL--just messing with ya'! It WOULD be nice to see a 4Runner in that list, though (nudge, nudge).

Lost my balls when I said, "I do." :D 4runner would be a nice addition, but does not fit our family plans at the moment. That was why I got rid of my G-wagen...it was just sitting in my garage collecting dust. And I hate to own something that I can't use to its potential. No time for off-roading with me being in city, growing families with toddlers, and job demands. No time to use 4-LO in other words! Near the end of my G ownership, I had to go 4-LO in my neighborhood streets every month just to exercise my G-wagen! That got old after a while. :D For me, I prefer full-time AWD nowadays which is far more practical for me due to it being both fuel efficient (save gas with rising prices) and safe for all-weather travels! My job demands that I make it to hospital day or night under any weather conditions for emergencies...35 miles one way trip.

And I bet you that people like me is what makes car manufacturers pump out wimp mobiles like the Parhfinder that you see above! For me, these SUVs are minivan wannabes...for owners who have self-image issues driving a minivan. I love my minivan! Will buy another one in a year or two.

I think you're absolutely right about the "minivan wannabe" effect--the manufacturers had to invent the "crossover" so guys could have something with the function of a minivan without having to admit driving one. Silly, but probably true. That Pathfinder is pathetic--I hate it when a company keeps the name on something after totally changing the character of a vehicle. Probably a decent vehicle, but come up with a new name--whatever the Pathfinder WAS, it is dead now.
 
ah what the hell... that's not gone well.


my 4runner gets compared to a pathfinder too often by those who don't know what it is. hell my mom got a rental pathfinder of the current generation and she thought it was huge. this is just... well it doesn't fit the name anymore. looks like a damn Quest.
 
Time to rename the Pathfinder to Pathavoider.

A CUV does have its place, and yes, from a male standpoint, the CUV is the better alternative to a minivan. When we're taking a long distance roadtrip, I prefer driving my wife's CX-9 because I can:

- speed more comfortably
- take corners more aggressively
- spend less on fuel
- keep the kids quiet with the roof-mounted DVD player

But if there's even a threat of snow/ice on our roadtrip (like when we travel to my parents' house up north), then we take the 4Runner.

Her CX-9 has 111,000 miles and I'm trying to talk her into replacing it with a Porsche Cayenne. =)
 
Nissan is my favorite car my all friends have Nissan but i have Toyota and i want to buy it and i do after some time anyone here which like to suggest some good Nissan cars model which is suitable for me..?
