Hello everyone, I have been on the forum since I purchased my 2003 4Runner SR5 in July 2011. As many of you may remember, it was the black 4Runner with cladding, which I blacked out using Plasti-Dip. I bought it like this (minus the mud)

and turned it to this in a matter of roughly 13 months.

Unfortunately, I lost my first 4Runner to a collison with a minivan (nobody hurt, both vehicles totaled). The day it happened, I saw the bent frame and immediately started my search for a new truck. It only took a week to find this beautiful 2006 4Runner SR5 V8. This is a picture of after the test drive when it was decided it will be mine! It had 109,500 miles.

The first thing I did was remove the running boards. It was obvious the previous owner went off road because of the filthy undercarriage (caked in mud). Once I removed the running boards, I power washed the undercarriage and did a little rust treatment.

Next I did the LED interior swap. I had it in the old truck, moved them into the new one. After that, I did the LED rear license plate bulbs.

Two days after purchase, I took my Gibson cat back exhaust to a local shop to have it installed. Because of the VVT-I motor in the 2006, the exhaust didn't fit perfectly and needed to be cut a bit. No big deal, fits perfectly now.

The awesome paint on this truck (Nautical Blue Metallic, totally fell in love with the color) needed some care, so I washed, clayed, polished, and two coats of wax. This got it nice and shiny and protected!

The most awaited mod I have done so far was the lift! After losing the Daystar kit in my 2003, I didn't know when I was going to be able to lift this truck. I knew I wanted to do it right this time so I went for it. I ordered the 3" Suspension lift from Toytec, including the front Toytec/Bilstein 5100 coilovers and Toytec Superflex/Bilstein 5100 in the rear. Was psyched to see this!

I moved my old wheels and tires to the new truck along with the lift. The tires are LT265/70/R17 Load C Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. The wheels are the 17" American Racing ATX Crawl.

Had it installed 3 days later! (10/9/12)

Added the Wade window visors today. I think they look great. Easy install too.

Ignore the crappy tire shine. The dealer did that when I took it in for new front axle seals.

Installed new headlights. I went with the Sport Edition smoked ones. Took me an hour because of the 4th bolt, huge PITA!

Thanks for the compliments guys! I love the way it turned out and I'm looking forward to whatever other stuff I choose to do with it. What do you guys think, plasti-dip grille or color keyed? Also, added pics of the LEDs

I am not sure exactly how much lift, I never measured. I also don't know if it settled yet or when it will. I have already driven about 70 miles with it on. It is definitely very high though, feels much higher than the Daystar equipped '03. Looking at the pictures, especially side view, it makes the tires look very small. It looks a lot better in person, the tires don't look that small and I'm actually happy with how well those tires fill out.

I vote yes to the plasti dipped grille! You can check my build to see what it will look like. I love the look of the beck grille. The thing that bothers be the most about our color 4runners is the chrome. It looks great though! Awesome stance! Keep it up!

I'd say plasti dip on the grill. Color matched looks good as well, but the black gives it more contrast and a more aggressive look, IMO. I had to get rid of the chrome on mine, I hated it. Nice looking truck tho, keep it up. :tongue:

Probably will Plasti-Dip it. It sucks though because I can't remove the grille, at least without breaking it off. Two of the bolts holding it on are seized. Guess I'm just gonna have to mask the bumper, hood, etc.

I don't need them. These wheels have an offset of 0 so they stick out a bit. I would need to get a better pic from the rear. Thanks though!

Looks really good! I love that nautical blue. The previous owner of mine had the grill color matched which was lucky for me. I'd color match if possible, if not then the plastidip looks good. More blue the better! That's such a great color.

Are you going with sliders, tubes, or naked?

Thanks! I am definitely gonna need a new grille at some point because like I mentioned before, two bolts are seized in there. Would probably buy a color matched one. As of now, it will stay like that. I plan on adding sliders at some point down the road but not for a while. Since I'm not going to be doing any serious off roading, I can hold off for now and I think I would be alright on the moderate trails I hope to get to. I always have the factory running boards I can throw back on there if I felt I needed to for whatever reason.

I installed new headlamps last night, but it was dark so I snapped a pic today. I went with the Sport Edition ones because I like the smoked look. The pic is in original post :hatsoff:
