No audio from radio...

So driving car home today, listening to my iPhone via Bluetooth. I take a phone call (yes bad habit), the radio pauses the iPhone during the call. After I hang up the radio continues but no sound is coming from the speakers. So I try the radio, xm, USB iPhone, nothing... Even the Bluetooth setup voice instructions are gone.

I've looked at the obvious rad no.1 and AMP fuses, both fine. Any ideas before I take it back to dealership? I'm currently sitting waiting with the negative terminal disconnected to see of that will help.

Chances are your radio thinks a signal is coming from your iphone. Should be nothing wrong with the head unit. Take your phone away from the vehicle and see what happens.
 
Turned off my phone.

Then went in and deleted my iPhone as a BT device ( very difficult without being able to hear the voice commands), still nothing.

Are there any other fuses that I should check?

Since th head unit it functioning but no sound, that leads me to the amp... Is it built into the head unit or does it reside elsewhere? Maybe a connection was loosened when th dealer installed leather/heated seats the other day...

I got that problem and it was an incorrectly grounded wire from my DIY backup camera. So if you've got mods, check them to be sure everything is grounded.

They installed the mirror and backup camera as well as leather... Where would they have grounded it you think...?

Well thats exactly the problem I was getting. The radio was powering on without any problem, but no sound from the speakers.

Im not 100% sure it was the ground however, it could have been a bad contact with a 12v wire and the car metal frame also. (long story short the red black wires were not insulated inside the camera and since the camera was metal it was in contact with the car chassis)

Tech said he'd need to keep the car to find out the problem, he seemed pretty stumped. He's going to need time to backtrack what the mobile installers did and see if that's the cause. He checked the amp under the seat, fuses, the obvious stuff and didn't turn up anything. I'll update next week once I take it back.
 
Toyota has had it for 5 days now, they have yet to find the exact grounding issue, but are almost positive that it was the fault of the Southeast Toyota mobile install unit. They've isolated the issue to the back door speakers. This is the second wiring issue they've run across lately that they've caused. The dealership is going to instill new policies that limit after port installs, such as leather, heated seats, etc to Toyota techs only.

I own a 4runner, I think... :(

They did, though I wish they could do more... Like a trd intake ;) actually the service rep failed to notify me that the truck wouldn't be finished that day, so I show up and ask where's my truck. Service guy left for the day already, no call and no word on my truck. They finally figure it out and get me a rental.

It'll get fixed, just hope it's still like new afterwards.

Well, just picked up the truck. Ended up being the ground for the rear view camera they installed. The techs pulled it out and will be replacing it themselves next week.

Now on to bigger and better things... like this box of 5100s sitting next to me.
