No Heat

So I just got my 4Runner up and running and noticed the heat was not working, even after the truck had warmed up. I am not exactly sure what the problem is. So if any of you guys got any ideas on what it could be just let me know and any advice on how to fix it would be nice too.

What engine?

No heat usually also means that your engine cooling system is not working. Here's where to start:

1. Check your coolant level. Make sure it's full, and not discolored. Check your oil as well for good measure (it's quick and easy). Look for milky or white oil, if you have that, it's bad (real bad).

2. Check your engine temp gauge. If your temp gauge works, then the problem is likely your heater core.

3. Check for air in the cooling system. Park on a steep incline (front end up hill), and let the engine cool. Remove the radiator cap, and start the engine. This removes air bubbles from the system.

4. Make sure you're not missing a belt. I don't know about the 3VZE, but the 22RE uses the fan/ power steering belt to drive the water pump, if it's missing or loose, water is not pumped. This results in no heat, and an overheating engine.

5. Worst case, remove the water pump and make sure it's good.

there is a little cable that controls the valve for the flow coolant to the heater core, make sure that it's connected, mine falls off quite frequently. (most models) the valve is parallel in height with the brake fluid resivior and about 16in towards the passengers side from the resivoir. if it's connected and operating correctly then check your coolant fluid level, when mine is low the heater stops working.

Good call. I forgot about that, as mine is stuck open and disconnected.
