No Power

I just bought a '92 4Runner 4x4, and I don't know if it's just the way these cars are or if there is something wrong with mine, but it just seems to have absolutely no power. 1st gear is fine but after that its pathetic. Again, I'm new to these so please excuse my ignorance, I just figured they should have more than it has (even going into the wind on the highway is a challenge, especially at any grade incline). It does need the valves adjusted (it ticks like no other) and the muffler has a split at the seam (which I'm waiting on the new one to come in), and I am going to do a compression test on all cylinders here soon as well. If this is just normal or if maybe theres a suggestion anyone has I'd greatly appreciate it :israel:

What were you driving before? Nevermind... it doesn't matter. 2nd gens seem to have a less power to weight ratio of practically any vehicle on the planet. Except a Samurai... lol.

What engine? Service records? Previous history? My 3. Slow isn't that bad on power. It's a 5speed. Basically stock other than a lift and tune up stuff.

So do you think I'm just not used to it? If so is there anything (like cold air intake, etc) that I can do to give it a little more power? When I get a new set of tires I'm going to 32x11.5 so I'm sure going up in size won't help any haha

Which motor? The 22RE is a tiny utility motor built for reliability and longevity instead of power, and the 3VZE is possibly the most anemic V6 ever produced. Couple either of those with the powersucking slushbox that is the A340 series automatic transmission, or upsized tires on stock diff gears, and you have a recipe for pronounced mediocrity on the freeway.

There's a couple things that will help either motor. If you want to sink money into it, a header should be first on the list. But make sure the motor is good first - good compression, good tune, etc.

It's the 3.0L V6 but its an automatic. And it has maintenance records dated back to when it was purchased new. It was taken care of (the interior/exterior is in amazing shape) so maybe I am just not used to it
