No sound from stereo

I have a 2003 with the JBL sound system. Everything seems to be functioning except I have no sound. The stereo shows the volume level if I turn the dial, but no sound. All other functions work, I can switch from CD to radio, stations will display on screen. Hoping its maybe a simple fix without having to remove stereo unit from dash. Anybody experience this with their stereo unit?

Not to insult your intelligence but is your stereo muted?

Most likely you'll have to pull your stereo. Double and triple check the connections on the wiring harness. If your wiring is good then there's a good chance you have a bad internal amplifier in the radio. Are you using an external amp? If so, make sure it's turning on and the RCA's are connected properly.

The stereo doesn't have a mute button that I'm aware of. System is factory installed, so I 'm not sure if the amp is internal or external.

I would post this in the 4th gen section. You would get a lot more help there from others that have the same era of 4runner. I used to have an 03 4runner with the JBL stereo and I never even looked to see if the JBL had an external amp. Either way I still think that it's an amplifier issue, internal or external.
