Hey guys,

'01 4Runner with no starter issues to date, went to change the transmission fluid tonight and spilled a little bit while refilling, wiped stuff down, went to start car and I all I get is a click and all the power shuts off...pull the negative cable and reattach, get power until I try to start again. Repeat multiple times...

What about the positive cable, are you cleaning said cables?

yep, sounds like a dirty/bad connection.

pull the cables and clean them, the posts too. put it back together, and make sure everything is tight before you try again.

also, its possible the battery is dead. were you listening to the radio, or have the key on for any amount of time while doing the work?

along with the above comments/suggestions check the grounds. all of the above suggestions are good and accurate. let us know if the problem persists

Wow guys sorry! I guess my notifications were turned off...I thought no one had responded. Anyway, the cables looked pretty good so I just unhooked the neg cable again and let it sit for a bit and all seems ok now!
