No start with P0340

I drove home Tuesday night and our 4runner was running fine. My wife got in it Wednesday afternoon, and it wouldn’t start. It will crank just fine, but won’t start. I scanned it this morning and got P0102 (MAF), P0113 (IAT), and P0340 (cam position sensor). The MAF and IAT made sense because I had unplugged the MAF while troubleshooting. I replaced the cam sensor (bank 1), cleared the codes and still had no start. I replaced the MAF just in case, but it still wouldn’t start. After scanning again, I got the P0340 again. I tried swapping out the sensor in bank 2, but that didn’t change any thing. I’ve also checked resistance on cam sensors and they check good. I disconnected the fuel line just in case the pump wasn’t woking, but it is. I’ve also tried reseting the ECU (unhooking battery). I’ve read that the crank sensor can cause a cam sensor code, but I would think that would show a crank sensor error, which I don’t have. I haven’t checked the resistance on the cam sensor wire, because I’m not sure where the ECM is yet. Any suggestions on what to check next? This is an '04 2wd w/v6 auto.

Decided to check for spark tonight. All plugs were badly worn and out of spec on gap. I installed new plugs and checked for spark by grounding the plugs to the head. I checked cylinders 3 & 5, neither had spark, so I'm guessing none of them do. Would this be normal with the P0340 error? I guess the next step is to check power to the coil?

We took our 4Runner to a local shop to let them diagnose it. They spent 6 hours and ruled out anything under the hood. Their diagnostics got the point of checking the imobilizer key computer mounted in the dash above a welded bracket that requires dash removal to test. Before taking the dash apart, they tried starting the engine again and it started fine. It continued to start every time they tried. So no real answer, but a real bill for the time they had in it. We picked it up and drove it for 4 days, and have the no start issue again. I did notice while driving it that with the sunroof open, the sunroof motor randomly engaged twice. The sunroof never moved, and I hadn't pushed anything, but it sounded like somebody bumped the sunroof switch. The two times were about 4 minutes apart, but in the same trip. I've also noticed that the center cabin light doesn't work when it won't start. The first time I figured it was burned out, but it worked when we got it back, but now won't. My wife spoke to the service writer, who was going to talk to his boss, but we haven't heard back. I'm considering taking it to another shop, depending on what we hear back from the first place. The no start, sunroof, and light seem like different problems, but seem to be connected somehow. At this point I'm thinking of replacing the ecu, but I don't want to spend the money without knowing that's it. Any ideas?

Any update on this issue? My vehicle is also giving the P0340 code, I have replaced the camshaft position sensor on Bank 1 also, code is still there and it is hard to start. Once started the truck works fine though. I just have to crank it over a few times to start.
