Noclinkers 96 Runner

Have Tony'sTK1 sway bar in the back. Had to put it on upside down and backwards and bend the arms around the rear coils but it works.

I like the build, but if what you wanted was something with strong solid axles and big tires, why did you start with a 4runner?

It would be cheaper to start with a cherokee, bronco, discovery, 3/4 ton dodge or ford...etc

1 I'm a Toyota guy.
2 I like the wheel base for most places and my wife and I can sleep in the back.
3 I am familiar with the platform and what works for what I do.
4 I have a lot of spare parts.

Tear down.

I tried to buy this pile of parts so I could put my 4;88's in them while I was still gathering parts for my build...

Your rig looks awesome, nice work.

I remember that, can't remember why you didn't get them though. I wanted the tires and rims you had too, but that didn't work either.

Thanks for the props on the runner!

Ha! Pretty sure it's the other way around lol. We need to wheel this winter! Quick question- you have any trouble smogging? Cali smog is a hassle, I didn't want to mess with the gas tank.

I can't wait for the snow to fly! We might do a snow trip up there. Here we have Cow Mountain for rocks and Sanhedrin for snow not near as nice as the high lakes.

We do not have to smog unless we are transferring title, so I smogged it before the build.
Not sure why it would not pass though, all the C.A.R.B. stuff is still there. all canisters, return lines and vents.

Body and fender trimming.

Got the body sealed back up after trimming. When this dries good I will undercoat the wheel well.

Before

sealer used

Ah lucky. I'm thinking of Callen (fawk awph) and why he parted out his 4runner. He even warned me about moving my cat which is what I was going to do to clear the upper link. His truck would not pass smog because of the gas tank swap. Even though technically it would because everything is there. But just the fact he relocated everything, dmv wouldn't pass it. I just ended up buying a smaller cat and making it fit.

Also, let me know if you wanna plan some camping trips near you I'm down to head over to clearlake area I havent been there in years

I will look into it. I have a buddy who does smog work, I'll ask him and get back to you.

I have Callen's FJ80 steering box off his old runner on mine.
