noises rattles oh my

When I first got the truck the dealer said the speakers were not performing good so they swapped out the front two. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Maybe they didn't tighten something up?

Is the fan on? Albeit unlikely on a brand new rig, a leaf or two stuck in the centrifuge below the cabin air filter can cause some humming. Make sure it is clean. Beyond that, all other humming sounds on mine have been the result of improper tire balance.

This sounds like exactly what has developed in our vehicle. So far, I cannot isolate this to anything accessible on the cabin side of the dash. I've removed the cabin air filter, cleaned a few leaves from the centrifugal fan, which stopped another more clicking type sound that i associated with AC use. I've removed everything from the glove box, noise still there. I've tried leaving the glove box door open, which seems to decrease the frequency of the noise starting, but it's still there.
it seems like a vibration sypmpthetic to rpm. it occurs at idle and more often just off idle at tip in. sounds very similar to a resonance-induced buzz like what older pickup trucks i've had did with straight-chamber exhausts while sitting at a light
if anyone has any ideas, i sure appreciate it...i may have to take it in for warranty look, but would prefer not to do that for such a slight (but hugely annoying) deal
I have a 2015 TEP w/5,000 miles on it and have the same problem. I hear a rattling/vibration coming from the passenger side floor area. It happens at sometimes at idle and almost all the time cruising at around 40mph (1,100-1,200 rpm). I guess I will check the passenger door speaker. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Guess I'm lucky... only one I've found so far is in the sunroof sunshade. If I close it all the way tight, it rattles. If I back it off a hair, maybe 1/8" (still closed, no light comes thorugh) it doesn't rattle.
All that said, I've learned to tune out a lot. Between the Jeep Wranglers I had, and the wife's convertible (more creaks/rattles than a Wrangler, especially on "cold" days) I had to learn to ignore them to keep my sanity! :madgrin:

This has been my experience as well. Had a rattle in the corner of the windshield (??) that went away after a week or so.

The more I wheel mine and run it into shit off road, the more it squeaks and rattles.
-mysterious squeak coming somewhere from the front
-something rattling and popping around the shifter
-back seat squeak
-cargo tray rattle
-sunroof squeak and rattle
-driver's rear quarter panel rattles
Colorado road salt did help some things seize and rust up and stop squeaking... so there's that.

My annoying rattle. For some time, I had a rattle which I thought was due to the clutter in my front cupholder. As I paid more and more attention, and then started taking parts off of the dashboard I realized that the rattle is coming from the air handling ductwork. I think it's in the mechanism that is in the ductwork, that directs the air to whatever direction is selected via the climate control. If it the selector (for the air handling) is set to the left (vent), the mechanism will rattle when the engine RPMs are just right - basically a slow speed, sort of like what you do in stop and go traffic. If I move the knob one click to the right, the noise goes away.
The entire dashboard needs to be removed to replace the mechanism, so I guess things are staying as is. I dont feel like taking the risk of having the dealer doing such a major job on the vehicle.
I will say that Toyota appears to have taken great pains to eliminate rattles behind the dashboard - there is lots of padding and clips to keep things from moving around. If they had just focused on the mechanism for the air handler...

thanks for posting this, i'm going to try the register pointing differently on the passenger side...we have a buzzing, vibrating rattle that occurs just off idle at tip in that is coming from somewhere near the glove box.
40k for an SR5 Premium? Maybe the rattle is from several thousand dollars in change lodged in there somewhere. 
Apollo, it sounds like your rattle is the same as mine - it occurs just off idle. Did the solution work for you?
