Non 4Runner Related Poll

I'm bored and have some spare cash. I'm looking for a second vehicle because....well I don't really have a good reason I just want one. I post this here because I feel many of you will probably have one of these other vehicles.

The choices
1994 Toyota truck, 210xxx, 5speed 22r, body is good, appears to be mechanically sound. $3,000

1994 Land Cruiser, 200,xxx, no lockers, a few dings and dents, leather, issue with drivers window trac. $3,200. Also appears to be mechanically sound.

I don't really need a truck so it's more which would be more fun to have. Asked my wife, she said I was an idiot and asked if this meant we can get a new washer and dryer. That being the end of that conversation I turn to the collective expertise here...expertise me

I like the land cruisers but I would take the truck. The cruiser and the 4runner are too close, both the SUV style, I would rather have a truck and SUV. I went from an 89 Toy truck to my 3rd gen and there are definitely times where I did like the open box more but there are more times for what I am doing where the SUV style is better. I am all about variety in my vehicle choice.... Even though I can only have one.

1 vote for land cruiser.

I am not a big fan of pick up trucks.
What is your plan for the new vehicle?
The planned use might help you decide what to get.

Don't really have a use for either. The truck would be nice for doing truck stuff but I've wanted an 80 for while. I guess with the 80 I would put it through a little more than I'm currently putting my 15TEP through, and if I got the truck I wouldn't have to use my utility trailer for hauling as much.

Love the 80, but you already have an SUV. Used to have an old 93 SR5 but given the choice I would've taken the Cruiser

obviously the LC is winning votes...

but i have a 14 T4R and an 03 F150...having the two similar rides, yet distinctly different functioned vehicles is a joy. i can get the truck as dirty as i want, beat it all to hell, and it just takes it and keeps on chugging. And then i can keep the 4Rnnr as nice as i please...when im not getting it dirty of course.

With either, it is also nice to have a vehicle that said wife DOESNT want to drive...now thats a real joy

My wife thinks my 4runner is "too refined" She wants a 60 or an Iron Pig, so whatever I get I wont get to keep it entirely to myself.

Op, I'd punt both those options and go for some sort of coupe

plenty of Datsun, RX7, BMW, Mercedes coupes from the 70s and 80s in this price range. From my local Craigslist under 3500

Really...well...she's a keeper...Sounds like she's looking to 'wheel' whatever you bring home anyway...complaints not withstanding.

my wife, within 15 min of seeing the Runner proclaimed she didnt like it. 6 months later, she cant get enough of it. But that leaves my pick up mine-all-mine.

Go for the pick up truck. It will do what you need.

Rememember that your friends will ask for help with moving large objects. LOL.

How about an old FJ to drive with the top down on sunny days? Thats the only thing I envy about Jeep owners is the ability to have that open air. My goal is to buy and completely restore either a 1st Gen, Bronco or Chevy Blazer.

Would love an old FJ, but that market has taken off the last 5-10 years. Thought about throwing a soft top on a 1st gen, but I cant find a decent 1st gen.

Save your money

Consider saving your money. How much money do you have saved up? Do you have an emergency fund? Are you maxing out your 401K plan, or at least getting the match (if you have a plan through work)?

No need to publicly answer but consider saving for your future or a rainy day before buying a vehicle that by your own admission you don't need.

Someone has to present the opposing view. Might as well be me :behindsofa:
