Non OEM fuel filter

Was going to change my fuel filter this weekend but our local dealer didn't have one in stock.

Are the filters from the local advance of acceptable quality?

I've noticed for many parts, the opinion on this forum is OEM or it's a waste of money. Didn't know if that applied here.

I used a Wix and it fit fine. I'll know in 100,000 miles whether it's as good as OEM.

Wix is a fine brand. I will probably run one when I change fuel filters if it's cheaper than OEM.

I use a Wix, I wanted to change it the same day and refuse to do business with the Berkeley Toyota dealership. Wix was the cheapest they had at O'riellys, but their product line came recommended by a mechanic.
The housing was noticeably less robust than the other brands they had and also thinner than the OEM but for the 12 or so dollars I spent on it I am not concerned about changing it more frequently. My local dealer wanted over 50 for an OEM.
I had 165K on my OEM and did NOT notice any increased power or fuel economy or throttle response as others have reported after changing.

I'll go with something non oem then. I'd rather change it again in 30k miles than pay 50 for a fuel filter. We just aren't going to put that many miles on it.

yep, I have a Wix fuel filter on my truck too.

Wix FTW. Put one on about 5000 miles ago. Cheap, good quality, easy install.

Oil filters are OEM only, but for air and fuel Wix or Bosch are what I've used dozens of times as they are names I trust and know they're of good quality. I'm not sure if Hengst, Mahle, or Mann make fuel filters for these rigs, but if they do I'd feel completely comfortable with those brands as well, they've treated my Mercedes fleet extremely well over the years.
