A few weeks ago, I bought a 1998 4runner SR5 4x4 5speed for $500 not running. I installed a new fuel pump, slave cylinder and tires, now shes running like a champ. No body damage and paint looks great, the only problem is the drivers seat is tore up pretty bad (leather). I plan on changing out the timing belt/water pump in a few months.

I live in Webster, Tx (Clear Lake area) and work in Pasadena as a millwright at a waste water plant. I'm married no kids and my daily ride is a 2011 Harley Heritage Softail.

This isn't my first Toyota, I had a 1982 4x4 pickup that was my trail rig and I had a 2008 Tacoma (Jeep killer), So my love for Toyota's goes back pretty far.

I wish I had that kind of luck, but I don't find any sub-$1,000 4runners out here in the AZ desert. At any rate, look forward to seeing you around, and hearing what you turn the 3rd gen into.

If I was married no kids, I'd have a lot more $$$ to put into my runners. Got a couple good kids though.... considering they are teens.
