Hey guys, it's been a great snow year this winter in the Sierra, let's get out outdoors and check it out! This is an open invite to get together and wheel in the El Dorado forest outside of Sacramento.
When Saturday January 23rd, meetup time and location to be announced.
Where We'll gather in Georgetown and take Wentworth Springs road to Uncle Tom's Cabin, a pub and landmark, and then exit out Ice House Rd, possibly stopping at Loon Lake.
Necessary gear A 4x4, recovery gear is helpful (strap, shackles, Maxitrax things), a shovel, emergency winter gear (sleeping bag, food, lighter etc.) . It's essential to have a tow hook or some place on your vehicle where someone can attach to yank you out...
The roads mentioned above are generally rutted out from other 4x4's , and Ice House Rd. gets plowed, but it is driving on snow, airing down tires is helpful, but it's likely we'll get stuck from time to time, hence the usefulness of going with others. And of course Mother Nature always has the last say, so I'll keep an eye on the forecast as the date approaches...
