The main thing I need help with are having the right sockets and the steering column thing intimidates me...

Other then that, the awesome write ups, and helping someone else do it, I almost have the confidence to try it by myself! .. Not really

I cannot do it today or tomorrow...however this upcoming weekend I can probably lend a hand. I installed my 1" at my house with a friend and it was relatively easy...however to your point, the steering column was the biggest pain.

i have a jack... just too intimidated to attempt myself.. i have experience with helping someone install... pretty straight forward thanks to nor cal's write up.
