Damn, sounds like you've got the experience here, that's awesome! Chevron sounds great to me. Can't seem to find it via Google at the moment, so maybe post up and address eventually if you'd be so kind. Otherwise, so far we have chevron in Bear Valley somewhere between 9-10, depending on how everyone is able to ablige. That's a solid foundation

I’ll be staying over in the packer lake area for two days and hopefully will find a spot at gold lake for a day as well before heading to Tahoe. I’ll be in there from June 22-25 and then Tahoe 25-27 if anyone wants to hang out and wheel.

FYI, there are MANY dispersed camping spots outside of Gold Lake that frankly are better than the established spots on the lake itself. You can find them pretty easily once you pass the lake heading west. Enjoy Downieville!

Downieville is great for camping as long as there not in fire restrictions, unless you don't mine a cold camp.

Great area for MBing and kayaking.

So should we start a rough game plan for corral hollow, on 7/7 and at least pencil in some tentative times? I have a jeep buddy who wants to go and I've officially gotten clearance for at least a day trip, possibly even an over nighter.

If I had to choose, I'd like to be at the trailhead about 9:30-10 or so. But I'm ok with whatever, including the traditional Starbucks meet 'N' greet prior if we wanted to plan for that. I'm just throwing out a timeframe. We have a month to prepare and organize.

I have a group of people heading up the evening of July 6 to stay at our cabin in Bear Valley, and the plan was 2-3 people, Taco/4R/LC, are gonna run the trail with us on Saturday the 7th. Not sure if in their vehicle or consolidated, but that was the plan. It may change. I'll be up there most of that week, so I'm down for a separate meet-up. Maybe run Sourgrass and get beers with [MENTION=113049]rochmpr[/MENTION] at the lube room on Friday the 6th?

Or if the trail is easy it should be a quicker run I suppose without many hang ups, I don't know. I'm not sure what the etiquette is on limiting people or how all that works. Maybe somebody with more trail experience can weigh on whether or not any of what I just said matters in the slightest. Pretty green myself overall, so I'm open to suggestions and information.

Yeah I hear you. I don't get the green light a lot to get away so I need to take advantage. I'm cool with however it gets handled. I like to think "the more the merrier" but I also know the reality if someone gets hung up it can add a substantial amount of overall time for the rest of the pack. Being an easier trail should keep the train moving well enough I would think.

My personal opinion, the larger the group, the longer it takes, especially when you have a wide range of experience, plus, taking in sites, wrong lines, spots, pictures, videos, and so on. Breaking into smaller groups means not everyone will be together or, depending on speed, will end up getting stacked up. All of this poses issues for those with time constraints or day trips if a group meet-up is planned for after.

Another aspect is the later you start, the more trail traffic that may be encountered.

Just some things to ponder.
