Alrighty then folks! We are getting a bit closer to Easter weekend, the weekend in which I'll be out camping with a few friends of mine over at Indian Springs off the 80 in Tahoe National forest. March29th-April 1st, if weather permits, but I may head up March 30th which is a Friday, early morning. I have that day off Govt. Jobs ftw!

Fairly certain most of you have been through already, it's a koo spot I like to hit it's about 2-3 miles inside along the Yuba river. Wheeling can happen there as the trail for Fodryce and Signal are accessible from there. Little update on the trails I've been through, there are water crossings that are decently high. I'm on 35s and water covered my tires just to give you an idea. I welcome anyone who wants to come and have no problem camping in the snow. Elevation is about 5000 and as long as it doesn't heat up too much there will be snow. Later in the week or possibly next week if anyone wishes to join and needs to know how to get there I"ll post the route the area or I can come out to the staging area and lead from there. Yea... about that... Good luck...

We had 8 rigs today, and one guy had 35's.. He got stuck trying to plow through the snow and make a route for us.. We ended up giving up and turning around.

I have the magnetic base sticking straight to the roof and it was working fine before... :shrug:

I pulled apart the antenna to inspect the connections are good and not loose. A few days back when I had my dash pulled apart I also made sure it's getting the correct voltage, and that it's grounded properly. I might end up sending the unit to cobra to get it warantied, if only I can find the receipt.

The roof rack usually doesn't interfere with the ground plane. Me having full metal rack, never does on mine.

You should have/check the tuning on the antenna first to eliminate if radio has problems.

I do have a tuner if need be, will need access to the back of the radio to plug into antenna jack.

I appreciate the offer Leonard, but I have one on order. Luckily/unluckily, my CB unit is easily accessible..... I need to fix that...
 
I wish I knew about this Friday!!!! I posted on the off-roading section on the main forum trying to get a Run together! I ended up going to Mormon Emigrant Trail today! Gaahhh and Bowman is a Badass trail! Super jealous. If I was there I would not have let you guys give up lol I’m moving to montana in a month. If I have time before our move date I’m totally down to head where ever!
 
Yesterday was a long day, but man that was fun. 10/10, would do it again. Also, I think I know what my next big purchase is going to be... :juggle::snacker:

I googled around for similar problems, and I came across this thread on Tacoma World... https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/cb-wiring-help-speaker-too-quiet.207866/page-2

I took it apart and the soldering job looks like crap with only a few strands holding one of the wires..... Gunna try to get a warranty through Cobra, or solder it up myself... Hopefully that fixes it...
