I was actually just looking through your build thread. Nice work on the rig. If you want to do some wheeling let me know. I'm always looking for guys that actually like to wheel the hard stuff.

I just stepped up to 35's and need to finish the rear tubbing this weekend. Once that's done I'm done working on my rig. I figure fully armored, dual locked, dual cased, 5.29's and 35's should get me to any fishing spot in the state. lol

Your going to get flex and your going to need all that .5". Your frame is thinner than it and not structurally built like it.



I bought my rear from 4x4labs myself, DIY also, no instructions included.

It's never been about leagues or levels for me. I just respect guys that try. Wheeling, climbing, kayaking, fishing, it doesn't matter. If your giving it all you've got you get my respect. I just wheel hard because I enjoy challenges. I also can have almost as much fun cruising easy dirt to a cool campsite that's got some fishing close by.

Stay in touch and we'll get together sometime.

I did a few trips out to auburn off of foresthill rd and that was pretty awesome. Just looking for some casual safe trails, nothing hanging off the side of a cliff.

I know some people like bowman as well but the roads can be narrow and bad at times.

You're not going to find much, unless you go 2+ hours out. By the 3~4+ hours out range, you'll have good trails in the national forest.

Hollister Hills is the obvious one, but there are some other backroads like Old Coast road in Big Sur. There are some roads in the Santa Cruz mountains, but.. I haven't really kept track of if they're open or closed lately.

Then La Gloria Road. Beautiful road to cut from Hollister to Pinnacles NP. It's flat throughout the whole trail from what i've read. I did about 2 miles from the east side and turned around since we wanted to setup camp at Pinnacles NP.

Yea, you're going to have to head at least 3hrs+, depending where you are in SF (assuming your location is accurate)

I only know of MET(Morman Emigrant Trail), Bowman Lake, and Eagle Lakes Rd. But you'd better bring someone with ya and be over prepared than sorry. Maybe someone can pitch in but MET and Bowman Lake are technically closed for the season.

Here's last year at Eagle Lakes Road... We probably covered a solid 2 miles in 4-6 hours. Constantly getting stuck, plowing fresh tracks. Good stuff.

Wonder if we'll go snow wheelin this year...

Looking for some snow wheeling not regular wheeling.

Here's a couple:

Head north east from Dutch Flat, over the Bear River and up Lowell Hill. There aren't any gates, so from there you can proceed east up the ridge all the way to Highway 20. Dutch flat is right about snow level for most storms, but you may have to go up a couple miles to find more than mud.

There's a similar road leading from Hwy 174, north of Colfax, then east past Red Dog, You bet, and the Chalk Bluffs. Again, dirt road all the way up to Highway 20, with snow in winter.

If snow levels are low enough, head up past Iowa Hill to the Sugar Pine Reservoir area. Lots of roads, few gates. Actually an OHV area, too.

Ive seen people go to bowman in the winter but i want to avoid as half the roads are on the edge of the cliffs. Mainly just want to get out and let my daughter play in the snow.

ill prolly head to hollister this sunday to stretch the legs a bit
