Here we go!
Day one of the 2001 SR5 Sport 4x4 Millennium Silver Metallic. Im moving all my stuff from my 2001 SR5 Sport 4x2 Millennium Silver Metallic to my 2001 SR5 Sport 4x4 Millennium Silver. Side note, these 4Runners are amazing! I sold my 4x2 with 254k miles and it still drove and looked like new! Did this in November 2012

Stole the tires and rims off my 4x2 before finalizing the deal. haha

Didn't do much to my Runner until I had to take it in to get the water pump, timing belt, plugs, wires, and filter clean and recharge done. While it was in the shop I decided to have a small puck lift put on it until I can afford to do an actual lift.

After:

Then same day I decided to remove my running boards. WAY better look IMO.

December 2, 2013 I broke down on the side of the freeway…Transmission grenaded on me. :crybaby:

In with the NEW:

Right after christmas I decided I needed new tires and it seemed only right to do rims also…So I ended up with a new set of Fuel 551 Trophy 17x8.5 with Toyo A/T Open Country 285/70R17. December was an expensive a** month for me.:redbrick:
About to be mounted up:

After driving around for a few days i realized that I needed to get out the hammer and angle grinder and get to work on the firewall. Any bumps while slightly turned and let the grind of rubber to metal and plastic begin. As I started to get to work on the flare on the bumper I changed my game plan a bit and decided to try and ghetto line the flares to see if I like the look. Here's the run down via pics.

I was going to go with a used one but ultimately decided that for the price difference I should just go with a factory rebuilt one from toyota. My work has a wholesale account there so I got a pretty good price. Still sucked though.

After the tires and wheels and the first rain came about this season (what little we have had) I decided to do the Andy mod, the fog light mod and the DRL disable mod as boredom cures and to get rid of the annoyance of them.

Looking sexy man! I'm digging the black on silver fender flares :bounce:

EDIT: I'm retarded, now I see the 4WD badge. Have you upgraded the front differential to 4.30 gears to match the rear? Otherwise you'll get some binding in 4WD/AWD.

Thanks snivilous, I hope to line-x the lower half of my body at some point also, eventually….I haven't done the front gears yet. I have not put the rear end in yet. I am actually taking my trailer tomorrow to pick it up. Keep my fingers crossed that all the harnesses will plug and play and it works instantly. That would be awesome if it does. I bought the rear end with the entire factory harness going from the locker all the way to the drivers kick panel including the RR Dif lock button and the e-locker ECU.

Right on! That'll be sweet with the rear locked, with the traction control only worrying about the front you'll have almost as much traction as being dual locked :bigok:

That's for sure. Although, we all know soon after I put that rear end in I am going to have to do the front gears…Maybe a true trac will find its home there, unless I find a factory front third for cheap.

Forgot to post this with all the other pictures. I hit a milestone mileage on Friday in my runner. 200K!!! With the new transmission, I hope to get at minimum 200k more.

Great looking 4runner! Just curious what cause your transmission to fail?

I actually don't know what caused the failure. I didn't have strawberry milkshake, and really didn't care to pull the old tranny apart. I knew the tranny was done for and done for real good. It neutralized on me on the freeway and was making some horrible grinding, knocking and chattering noises that honestly sounded like half my transmission had turned to pieces and shavings--im sure it was the planetary gear though. I never opened up the case to inspect because it was around $450 price difference for me to either rebuild it/buy a used tranny or spend the $450 more and get a factory rebuilt one with a parts warranty.

Looks like a direct swap to me, unless you are thinking about swapping the 3rd. make sure the gears match the front.

Unfortunately I couldn't find an e-locked rear end with the same ratio, but thats ok because I have the 4:10's in my 4R so I need to regear anyways. The e-locked I bought has the 4.30's in it so I will probably keep an eye out for the 4.30 third for the front so i can just bolt right in, or i will have to get it geared soon.
