NorCal Drives on the Beach!

Looks like I'll be doing a couple of these hopefully soon! Thinking the Mendocino county beaches. At least one night camping probably to make it worthwhile. A meetup would be cool, but they are 4 hrs either from SF, or Sac. Anyone done these drives?

USAL and PISMO are mainly the ones I hear guys run.

Did not know anywhere besides Pismo allowed driving on the beach. I've been up north to Mendocino area a bunch. There is a great VRBO in Elk called White Water Cove - awesome place, highly recommend it! It's right on the cliff over the water with great ocean views.

I've done all the Humboldt County ones, and Usal which is northern Mendo. Good fun. Often ill advised though, since the terrain changes drastically and the tide can catch you in bad places. Guy just lost a new Raptor at Shelter Cove beach and about once a month someone gets stuck and then drowns their vehicle on the Samoa beaches.

If you do Usal, make sure you drive Usal Rd all the way north (26 mi). It's a fun "light" off road ride.

I have enjoyed Oceano a few times and may be back next week, mid week.
Good dunes, quad and dirt bike rentals on the beach. Camping on the beach or in nearby campgrounds and hotels nearby in town.
