A little rain is ok. I lived in South Eastern Ontario just outside Toronto. I have a flight tomorrow to Seattle and back... I'm praying the plane makes it out.
The other day the power went out... PG&E said one of the pieces of equipment got waterlogged and fried. I guess since it hardly ever rains here (and doesn't even know) that equipment maintenance is not what it is over in the east coast.
So have some candles and a camping stove to give you the ability to cook some food?

I was debating if I should mount some pontoons on the 4Runner and buy some ammunition... But I mean, the Bay Area should drain out pretty fast unlike New Orleans right?

The worst storm I was through and remember was the Ice storm in the north america east coast in 1998.
I remember my house not having power for 1 week at well below freezing temps. I also remember by day 4 I was running out of firewood, and I ended up using a 12V to 120V 1200 watt power inverter on my car... running my car on the driveway. Power inventor on the +ve and negative of the Subaru... hacked open an extension cord... cut open the 120V AC cabling going to my gas furnace. Splicing it into a spare junction box with twist on electrical Marrets to supply power to the furnace to warm the house up.
I also remember using my propane BBQ to make breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Actually I hate the Sun, Heat, and Bright Cloudless days...
I enjoy rain, snow, cold, and overcast to stormy...

Seriously... I read the power went out and poof... My lights go out. Came back on about 10 seconds later but still the timing of it.

You are welcome to visit Iowa to experience some interesting weather. In an average year we get: -10°F in the Winter with plenty of snow, +100°F in the Summer with 100% humidity and a tornado or two thrown in during the Spring if you wait around long enough. No mountains to ski on and no ocean to surf on. We will be relocating as soon as my wife retires in a couple of years. Really nice people here though. No gripes about it, as I chose to stay years ago, soon it will be time to move on.

I was 8 when this took place and I still remember every moment of it. This was also accompanied by 5-10ft of snowfall .. "Best Week Ever" -if you're into the whole snow/ice thing.

It's official. Nearly all public schools have been cancelled because of this "really mean" rain storm. Lol.

I flew out this morning at 645am from San Jose airport to Seattle for a meeting. I do say it was the bumpiest take off I have ever been on... and I fly quite a bit. The plane sitting still did rock quite a bit waiting for space to take off.
Let's see how the flight back goes this afternoon. I'm praying the airport is still accepting flights.

I remember taking whatever gasoline I had in the garage (which meant siphoning gasoline out of my rx7 that was gassed up with fuel stabilizer for my Subaru to power the furnace). I was surprised the alternator didn't die after that. The subaru lived another 7 years trouble free until I sold her and moved to California where I'm experience "The worst storm of 7 years" and I have a 2015 4runner now. Rx7 is gone too, she was replaced by my current s2000.

Most of the issues I've seen with this NorCal storm are human induced.
I've traveled a lot and seen many storms. Including one storm experienced on a plane where the left wing was ahead of the rest of the plane during landing.
When the water is coming over the hood on the Main Street or there's an Oak tree on my roof I don't consider it major or severe.
Just my two cents.
