normal or excessive driveshaft play?

Hi,

I've had a driveline clunk for a while tried greasing the shaft to no avail (though I'll try again because I don't think I got all of the zerks), but while checking out my new center diff actuator leak I checked the play of the front and rear propeller shafts. The front shaft has about twice the play of the rear. I don't know how many degrees of play it has, but I'd say a point on the circumference of the front shaft rotates nearly 1/4". Is that too much?

Thanks!

Cool, Thanks. As somebody in another thread said, I put about 10 pumps of grease into the slip joints and I think the clunk is gone. They key was to hold the grease fitting on really hard while pumping to force the grease inside. Without holding it firmly the grease just came out around the fitting making me think it was full.

i need to redo this again to mine once i get it back. It flung all the grease out on the first few miles.
